Our team is looking for a Technical Content Engineer to help us create and deliver world-class product documentation that helps developers use Temporal in their applications.
The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of modern software development concepts and best practices, and have experience producing high-quality written content for a highly technical audience of software engineers.
What You'll Do- You'll use your experience as a writer and software developer to design and edit practical technical content that helps new developers understand how Temporal solves their existing problems.
- You’ll collaborate with subject-matter experts and your team to plan, organize, write, edit, review, and maintain quality, consistent, contextualized, and technically accurate documentation for our SDKs, open-source service, tools, and the Temporal Cloud product.
- You’ll update and refine existing content to reflect changes to the product and feedback from training sessions, surveys, and collected metrics.
- You'll build strong relationships with people internally and externally. You'll collaborate with other content creators to ensure that content you develop aligns with the organization's goals and strategies, and you'll engage our community of learners through active participation in our community spaces.
- You’ll make appropriate use of AI and LLMs in content creation, discovery, and consumption.
- You have at least three years of professional technical writing and editing experience creating high-quality, code-heavy documentation, tutorials, or how-to guides for a highly technical audience of mid-to-senior-level software developers.
- You’re a strong editor who can guide others through the outlining and writing process as well as catch inconsistencies.
- You have excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- You align with our values of Reliability, Developer Experience, and First Principles Thinking.
- You have experience with at least one of Temporal’s SDK languages (Go, Java, PHP, Python, TypeScript, or .NET) using industry best practices and are comfortable explaining these concepts to other developers through writing.
- You can drive a project from the beginning to completion, and you can collaborate with other writers, editors, and subject-matter experts to deliver high-quality work at scale.
- You’re just as comfortable integrating the work of others as you are creating your own content, and you know how to use multiple tools and sources to deliver quality content.
- You’re comfortable with Git, GitHub, Markdown, and the command-line interface.
- You're excited to learn new technologies and programming languages and grow your skills with a team of professional writers and educators.
- You have professional software development experience building back-end applications.
