The Impact of a Senior Technical Architect (pre-sales) to Coupa :
The Coupa Technical Architects team is a core capability within the broader Solution Advisory team and is responsible for helping prospective and current customers to understand the overall Coupa Platform technology and how it is integrated with their IT strategy and existing (or to-be) landscape. Our approach is based on building trust with the layers of an IT organization to help them develop an understanding of how Coupa works, how it processes their data and how this is secured.
Part educational, part sales and part technical advisory.

The Coupa Platform technology is evolving rapidly and this role provides the ability to be at the frontier of AI and cloud technologies. You will need to show passion, energy and the ability to learn quickly to join a small global team of likeminded technical specialists.
What You'll Do:
- Strategic IT Partnership: Work as an integral part of the enterprise account team to define the strategic IT engagement approach. Your primary goal is to build deep trust and advocacy for the Coupa Platform within strategic, enterprise-level accounts, often spanning multiple industry verticals.
- Technical Subject Matter Expert: Act as the lead technical expert in customer-facing engagements. You will be responsible for providing comprehensive presentations, in-depth explanations, and detailed discussions to prospective and existing customers on the Coupa platform's strategy and AI-driven approach.
- Platform & Security Evangelism: Clearly articulate the nuances of Coupa's cloud hosting infrastructure, overall product architecture, and robust security and compliance frameworks. You must be able to address complex technical objections and build confidence in Coupa's enterprise-readiness.
- Integration & Data Architecture: Demonstrate deep knowledge of complex integration scenarios with major ERPs such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, and D365. You will also be responsible for explaining Coupa's data management strategy, including how AI models are trained and data is processed securely and efficiently.
- Technical Asset Development: Proactively create, review, and evolve a library of technical sales assets. This includes building compelling presentations, creating digital assets, recording technical videos, and generating other content needed to assist the sales team in communicating complex technical information effectively.
- RFP & RFI Technical Ownership: Serve as the key technical resource for the RFP team. You will be responsible for responding to and thoroughly reviewing all technology and security-related sections of RFI/RFPs, ensuring accuracy and strategically positioning Coupa's technical advantages.
What You Will Bring to Coupa:
- Broad Technical & Cloud Acumen: You demonstrate comprehensive technical aptitude across multiple domains, including modern web-based applications and SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS cloud models. You must be comfortable discussing infrastructure, enterprise architecture, AI concepts, multi-layered security, and complex integration strategies with authority.
- Business & Domain Expertise: You have direct experience with Finance, Procurement, or related business solutions and possess keen decision-making skills. Your true talent lies in translating complex technological features into tangible business value, articulating how our platform solves specific operational problems for both C-level executives and technical teams.
- Masterful Communication & Storytelling: You have exceptional written, verbal, and graphical communication skills with documented experience developing and presenting clear, compelling technical narratives. You must be ableto confidently command a room, simplify complex topics, and adapt your presentation style for diverse audiences, from engineers to CFOs. (Multilingual skills are a significant bonus).
- Independent & Organized Project Management: You are highly organized, self-motivated, and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. You have a proven ability to work independently, manage multiple simultaneous projects, and effectively prioritize tasks to ensure all deadlines are met without sacrificing quality.
- Proactive & Curious Mindset: You bring a genuine learning and exploring mindset, with a passion for staying current on new technologies and a willingness to adapt to a changing job environment. This role requires a B.S. degree in a technical field or equivalent experience that provides a strong, foundational understanding of core concepts.
The estimated pay range for this role is $163,000 - 179,000 + eligibility for commission
The starting salary for the successful candidate will be based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location.
