About Mytra:

We’re creating an entirely new way to solve the most ubiquitous problem in industry - moving and storing material. We’re applying robotics and distributed software to create a new class of product for this $1T market. We’re focused on the supply chain industry first. The industry is in a massive bind with the continued growth of e-commerce, sharp rise in costs, and supply chain disruptions. What has been a “sleepy” industry for decades is now at the epicenter of sustaining the global economy.

About the Role:

Mytra's Systems Integration and Test team is seeking a mechanically-oriented Systems Test Engineer to design and execute advanced structural and dynamic testing for warehouse robotics and pallet racking systems.

As a Systems Test Engineer, you'll develop comprehensive test methodologies for high-load mechanical systems, working with mechanical assemblies and structural pallet racking. You'll collaborate closely with mechanical design, systems, and firmware engineers to validate performance limits, establish safety margins, and create robust mechanical validation processes that ensure Mytra's product can handle the demanding warehouse environment.

This role requires on-site presence at our Brisbane, CA headquarters.

Example Projects:
  • Develop comprehensive design of experiments (DOE) and system-level test plans for mechanical validation. Create statistical test matrices that efficiently characterize performance and define test sequences that validate structural integrity, fatigue life, and safety margins for new robotic system designs.
  • Design and build mechanical test systems for structural validation, creating custom test fixtures and instrumentation layouts that integrate hydraulic actuators, strain measurement, and data acquisition systems in order to simulate accelerated operational wear
  • Perform failure mode analysis of mechanical systems, conducting root cause investigations of material failures and collaborate with design engineers on targeted improvements
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience designing and executing test plans for complex mechanical systems in industries such as industrial automation, aerospace, or automotive applications
  • Expertise in mechanical engineering fundamentals including statics, dynamics, materials science, and structural analysis, with proven ability to translate theoretical concepts into practical test methodologies
  • Proficiency with test instrumentation including strain gauges, load cells, accelerometers, and displacement sensors, with experience in signal conditioning and data acquisition systems
  • Experience with test fixture design and fabrication, including hands-on capability in mechanical prototyping, machining coordination, and assembly of custom test hardware
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field, or equivalent work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of environmental testing (temperature, humidity, vibration, shock, EMI/EMC) and familiarity with reliability testing, burn-in procedures, and accelerated life testing
  • Strong analytical skills, with proficiency in statistical data analysis and quality metrics in Python, MATLAB, or similar
  • You excel at working in fast-paced development environments where test requirements evolve rapidly and creative problem-solving is essential for validating novel mechanical systems
  • You can effectively communicate complex mechanical test results and failure analysis findings to diverse engineering teams and stakeholders
  • You're excited about pushing the boundaries of warehouse robotics, working on cutting-edge mechanical systems that operate at unprecedented scales and speeds
  • Uncertainty isn't scary, and you're willing to realize mistakes and pivot
  • You value openness, inquisitiveness, and constant ambition
A Final Note:

You’re encouraged to apply even if you can’t take on every example project in its totality. We work closely and collaboratively at Mytra - No one takes on projects alone. We seek people who are eager to work together, learn new things, and bring unique perspectives.

Benefits Include:
  • Competitive compensation + equity grants at a high growth company backed by top tier VCs
  • Medical, dental, vision, 401(k), commuter benefits, and pet insurance
  • Lively modern combined office and lab space where we rapidly iterate through design, build and test phases
  • Lunch and snacks provided in the office; we eat and share stories together at the “long” table
  • Flexible hours and flexible PTO
Pay Notice:
  • Compensation for this position will be negotiated based on the candidate's experience level and location. The posted salary band is applicable only to the San Francisco Bay Area and is subject to change.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
