About the Role
Lightship’s mission to modernize and electrify RVs demands building cutting edge electronics and controls. As a Senior Systems Test Engineer, you will design and implement automated test infrastructure to validate our embedded software and hardware with a focus on our unique propulsion system. To succeed, you will develop a strong understanding of how our systems work and how to break them to ensure a high bar of quality for our embedded software systems.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) automated test infrastructure for our embedded systems
- Work closely with software and system owners to develop deep understanding of how our systems work
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to develop testing coverage requirements
- Author and execute test plans to ensure our embedded systems meet functional and safety requirements
- Root cause test failures and clearly document bugs for tracking purposes
- Support development testing in the lab and in the field
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- Minimum 5 years experience testing software/firmware
- Proven experience in embedded systems test infrastructure
- Proficiency coding in Python
- Experience with test automation and continuous integration
- In-depth knowledge of CAN bus
- Experience working on safety-critical systems
- Self-directed and motivated with the ability to work effectively in uncertain situations
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ISO26262 or similar functional safety standard in a different industry
- Experience debugging across communication protocols such as CAN, UART, etc.
- Experience working with HIL platforms like dSpace, Speedgoat, VeriStand, etc.
- Familiarity with Simulink and MATLAB for model-based HIL testing
- Ability to read electrical schematics and datasheets
- Proficiency coding in C/C++
- Proficient with basic lab tools (multimeter, oscilloscope, soldering iron, etc.)
- Experience with test and automation frameworks (e.g. Jenkins, Pytest, TestRail, etc.)
- Experience working on high voltage and/or propulsion systems
- Basic understanding of microprocessors and associated peripherals
- Experience with startup or other small company environment

- Lightship compensation consists of the yearly salary above plus equity, which gives you a stake in the company.
Onsite/Hybrid Work
Hybrid roles at Lightship require onsite work from our offices Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Tuesdays and Fridays are optional work from home days, when your work will be executed more successfully from home. Speak to the hiring manager to learn more.
