About the Role

Slipstream is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator, hands-on generalist who can support servers, backups, and scripting in addition to day-to-day end-user support across both macOS and Windows environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site IT support across mixed macOS and Windows environments, including hardware, software, and network troubleshooting.
  • Administer and maintain server infrastructure, including day-to-day monitoring and maintenance.
  • Manage and monitor backup systems, including Veeam, NAS, and S3-based storage.
  • Write and maintain scripts to automate routine IT tasks and improve operational efficiency.
  • Deploy, configure, and support end-user laptops and desktops.
  • Escalate and resolve issues beyond tier-1 support, partnering with the broader IT/infrastructure team.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of systems, configurations, and support procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated proficiency supporting and administering both macOS and Windows.
  • Hands-on scripting experience (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, or Python).
  • Experience administering server environments.
  • Experience with backup and storage technologies: Veeam, NAS, and S3.
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and customer-service skills.
  • Able to work on-site full time at the South San Francisco location.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior IT support experience in a life sciences, biotech, or pharma environment.
  • Experience operating in security- or compliance-conscious IT environments.
  • Relevant certifications (Microsoft, Apple, Veeam, or similar) a plus.
