Provide Mentor student interns participating in the Applied Research for the Intelligence and Security Community program, fostering a culture of service, dedication, and technical excellence in support of restoring the warrior ethos and preparing the next generation of defense leaders.
- Collaborate with military stakeholders, program managers, and academic partners to ensure analytical efforts are tightly aligned with operational needs and real-world threats, strengthening national defense posture and deterrence capabilities.
- Drive innovation in test methodologies and evaluation tools for protective equipment and combat systems, staying on the leading edge of emerging technologies and improving the speed and accuracy of fielding advanced solutions.
- Prepare and present high-quality technical reports, briefings, and documentation for senior leaders and external stakeholders, contributing to accountability, informed decision-making, and the department’s efforts to meet audit and transparency goals.
- Education & Experience: Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field, with at least 10 years of relevant experience in ballistic testing, survivability evaluation, or defense-related research and development.
- Technical Expertise: Demonstrated expertise in live fire testing, PPE evaluation, survivability modeling, and the application of engineering and statistical methods to assess system performance.
- DoD Test & Evaluation Knowledge: Strong understanding of DoD acquisition processes, including Live Fire Test & Evaluation (LFT&E) and Operational Test & Evaluation (OT&E), and their role in defense system development.
- Leadership & Mentoring: Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and mentor junior professionals or students, with a commitment to developing future talent in national security.
- Security & Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to brief senior leaders and stakeholders; U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance required.
