About the Vertical

The Digital Content, Media & Communications vertical is one of the fastest growing and most dynamic parts of Adyen’s business where we have seen success with businesses like Spotify, Meta and Microsoft in the Enterprise space and also with global leaders in subscription & the AI-native ecosystem. The key to our success is partnering closely with our customers to identify their unique needs on payments, financial products & billing, support their global scale, and drive success for the Digital Content, Media & Communications vertical. We define this vertical as any business operating in the Streaming, Software & AI, Gaming, Social Media/ Ads, News & Publishing or Telecommunications space.

About the Role 

In partnership with the Head of Digital Content, Media & Communications Vertical (to which this role reports to), this role is responsible for Adyen’s long-term strategy and overall performance for the Digital Content Vertical. They will ensure the health and growth of the portfolio by identifying where, with whom and how to win.

The role is a part of the broader Commercial Strategy & GTM team at Adyen. Our team mission is to position Adyen as the global fintech leader and to grow our commercial success within and across our key verticals. 

This role will contribute to driving the commercial strategy and revenue growth initiatives for net new business acquisition as well as growth of existing customers within the vertical. 

The ideal candidate will have a strong background working in the vertical or managing a payments / financial services portfolio in the vertical. They should also have exceptional strategic thinking abilities, acute analytical depth and a proven track record of driving commercial success. 

What you’ll do

  • Key driver of the health and performance of the Digital Content, Media & Communications vertical; you will support the general management of the vertical.
  • Define and drive key elements of the global commercial strategy for the vertical. All strategies and initiatives should support the definition of where, with whom, what, when and how to sell to merchants. Your strategies will account for market nuances to ensure commercial teams can execute flawlessly.
  • Be an SME for the vertical. You can speak intelligently about the space with the most strategic customers and you can champion the right initiatives internally.
  • Analyze vertical specific customer behavior to identify opportunities for product and service innovation and differentiation.
  • As the voice of customer for the vertical, work closely with our Product teams to champion the vertical by:
    • Providing vertical trends, opportunities and customer pain points to inform needs as input to product prioritization
    • Inform product pricing strategies and packaging strategies to maximize profitability and market share within the vertical 
    • Providing the vertical nuance to global commercial enablement 
  • Develop and maintain customer segmentation to identify and pursue opportunities for revenue growth and market expansion.
  • Inform vertical and broader Adyen strategies with the latest industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes that may impact the vertical, and proactively identify strategic opportunities or risks.

Who you are

  • 7+ years of experience in Digital Content or related industries
  • You are passionate about the Digital Content space and the success of our customers in this vertical. You are customer-centric at your core
  • Have a strong ability to develop winning strategies in the vertical and can navigate / tackle current blockers
  • Experience and passion for GTM strategy & execution
  • Can package various customer feedback into tangible, data-driven business cases that will drive influence
  • Strong communicator, comfortable presenting to senior stakeholders and representing the company publicly at industry events.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Available to travel up to 25% of the time, including internationally

  • This role is based out of our San Francisco or our New York City office. We are an office-first company and value in-person collaboration; we do not offer remote-only roles
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally
