Job Description

Job Summary:

The Senior State Tax Analyst is responsible for assisting with all aspects of the state income and franchise tax function.  This includes assisting with state tax reporting under IFRS, state tax compliance, and state planning opportunities.

Job Description

  • Prepare and review state and local income and franchise tax compliance requirements, including quarterly estimates for primarily subchapter C corporation domestic entities
  • Working knowledge of multi-state filing requirements including apportionment methodologies, nexus concepts, state filing positions (inclusive of unitary/consolidated groups as well as state conformity to specific IRC provisions)
  • Assist with quarterly and year-end state and local tax provision calculations
  • Research and documentation of state tax technical positions
  • Assist with the maintenance of filing calendars and state compliance workplans
  • Identify opportunities and implement actions to improve state tax compliance and provision processes and improve efficiencies and controls
  • Provide support on M&A due diligence and state restructuring projects as needed
  • Assist with state controversies and notices
  • Remain current on existing and new state tax legislation
  • Special projects – as requested

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • 4+ years’ experience with public accounting firm or large corporation
  • State income and franchise tax specific experience
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects
  • Strong focus on detail and ability to manage and meet deadlines
  • Tax research experience
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

Preferred:

  • Advanced Degree preferred
  • CPA preferred
  • OneSource Income Tax and Tax Provision software experience preferred
  • Alteryx Data & Analytics software experience preferred
