With over $22M in backing from world-class investors, Neura is on a mission to revolutionize neurology care. We are serving a massive market (over 145m Americans have neurological issues) that is deeply underserved. Our mission is to assure access and quality of care for neurologic conditions. If you're driven by purpose and excited to shape the future of brain health, we invite you to be part of our transformative journey.

We are looking for a full-time engineer hire that wants to work at the intersection of cutting edge technology and some of the hardest problems in healthcare. We want someone that is not only an excellent engineer, but also mission-driven, collaborative and results-oriented.

You will report directly to our CTO and share coding + technical lead responsibilities. Our technical stack is React Native for the mobile apps, React for the frontend, Firebase / Google Cloud in Node.js for the backend. We primarily use TypeScript.

About you:

  • 5+ years of experience in engineering, ideally full-stack.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies. You will work across the entire stack in multiple languages.
  • A solid background in writing understandable, testable, and efficient code.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders.
  • Empathetic, mission-driven, collaborative, precise, transparent, compassionate, results-oriented.

In the first 3 months, you will:

  • Learn about our entire engineering stack - backend, third-party API integrations, our mobile apps, our website, and our AI-powered tools/features.
  • Learn more about healthcare and how it works than you ever knew before.
  • Work with some amazing cross-functional partners to understand how to meet the needs of patients using technology

In the first 6 months, you will:

  • Own entire components of our care-delivery infrastructure.
  • Develop tools to optimize our operations and clinical workflows, such as AI-driven patient history summarization, in-housing key features of our medical record system, scaling our platform to meet the needs of our partners, improving our provider matching algorithm, streamlining patient onboarding experience, etc.
  • Improve our mobile products and create a roadmap for building disease specific features and tests.

Within 1 year, you will:

  • Be a key member of the company's engineering leadership team.
  • Work in partnership with our operations team to help us deliver the highest quality care most efficiently.
  • Lead our efforts to drive understanding of patient data in terms of medication effectiveness to enable us to use our knowledge to power pragmatic clinical trials.

Compensation

  • Total compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to, type of position, location, education level, work experience, and certifications.
  • Base salary range: $200-$215k.
  • Equity range: 0.1% to 0.3%.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, vision insurance.
  • 21 days flexible time off plus 12 holidays per year.
  • We are remote friendly (if you are not located in NYC). We ask for 2 days in the office if located in NYC. Our office is right by Grand Central Station.
  • More information about our benefits can be found here.

Note

  • We require a LinkedIn profile because it helps reduce automated applications with resumes that are clearly written by ChatGPT.
  • If your resume has generic sentences such as "Architected and developed scalable backend systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and data security requirements", you probably won't hear back. Be specific - tell us exactly what you did.

About Neura Health:

Brick-and-mortar neurology clinics often face overwhelming patient demand, leading to long wait times. Nationwide, the wait to see a neurologist is 4-6 months. This delay in care can be especially critical for patients with progressive neurological conditions, where timely intervention is essential. The traditional model struggles to keep pace with growing needs, leaving many without access to the specialized care they urgently require.

Neura Health is building the nation’s largest virtual neurology practice, as well as an all-in-one place for patients to manage their longitudinal disease journeys. We’re redefining the future of neurology through cutting-edge technology, compassionate care, and a relentless commitment to better outcomes. By combining advanced data analytics and AI-assisted diagnostics, we're enabling earlier detection, personalized treatment, and continuous monitoring for neurological conditions such as chronic headaches, chronic pain, epilepsy, memory disorders, and more.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
