The Team:
At SoFi, credit cards are critical to our mission of helping our members get their money right and our goal of becoming a Top 10 Financial institution. Last year we launched two new credit cards to complement our flagship Unlimited 2% Cash Rewards card. And we’re at just the beginning.
We’re seeking a seasoned Senior Staff Product Designer to define and deliver the new, future-looking card products that set SoFi apart. You will establish a vision and collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Research, Business Unit Leads, and other designers to define priorities, manage trade offs, execute an ambitious agenda, and be accountable to results reported at the executive level.
You will engage deeply with platforms, systems, and experiences across SoFi to bring new products to life, positioned to scale from day one. Longer term, you will own and drive the roadmap for new cards and foundational capabilities across SoFi’s credit card suite.
The role:
As a Senior Staff Product Designer, it will be your responsibility to imagine the future of the Credit Card products, create and drive new 0-1 initiatives, set a high standard for excellence, and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary set of stakeholders. Additionally, it will be your responsibility to bring cohesion across our product ecosystem by dissolving product boundaries and considering a better way to support day-to-day financial interactions overall.
At this level, you’ll also have considerable responsibility to help grow and mature the design organization at large. This includes coordinating designers across product areas to align the larger SoFi ecosystem and acting as a mentor to various designers in the organization.
SoFi has achieved significant growth by setting ambitious goals. As those ambitions continue to grow, we must continue to invest in great talent. And that starts with you.
Responsibilities:
- Create and articulate a comprehensive product vision, strategy, and roadmap for a new card product, aligning with SoFi’s broader objectives
- Design product features from start to finish, from the early sketching and concept phases to final pixel-perfect files that are ready to ship
- Work closely with the Design Leadership, Research, Product Management, and Engineering leaders and be able to quickly iterate based on feedback
- Develop user-centered design solutions based on research, member insights, and industry best practices
- Proven track record in considering the end-to-end experience with considerations across Product, Marketing, and Support
- Present design concepts and clearly communicate design intent through prototypes, presentations, and user journeys
- Collaborate with other product designers working on other projects to drive alignment and consistency across the entire user experience
- Mentor and grow the team
Qualification and experience:
- 12+ yrs experience of experience working in product design/UX roles
- Strong design point of view, craft, and aesthetics across all platforms (Android, iOS, & Responsive Web)
- Track record for leadership -- delivering end-to-end solutions from initial concepts to measurable outcomes
- Strong collaboration & influence skills across cross-functional teams including research, product management, engineering, and marketing
- Ability to leverage user research, user needs, and product data to inform product definition and design solutions.
- Ability to navigate and manage senior leadership, representing design perspective and advocating for user needs in the context of business and technology drivers
- Strong expertise in common design tools (ie Figma, Figma Slides, Figjam, etc)
- Experience working in an Agile development environment using tools like Jira and Confluence
- A portfolio URL or PDF to submit with the application with examples of mobile and responsive web product design
Even better:
- Experience working on mobile-first financial products
- Deep interest in Investing and understanding of investment concepts
