What You’ll Do

As a Staff Mechanical Engineer at Samsung Semiconductor, Inc., you’ll play a key role in advancing the performance and reliability of next-generation semiconductor packages and memory devices. You will utilize advanced numerical modeling and simulation techniques to support development from concept to validation.

Location: Daily onsite presence at our San Jose Headquarters in alignment with our Flexible Work policy

Reports to: Sr Principal, Packaging Engineer

  • Provide mechanical design support for package and system development, from conceptual design through detailed modeling, qualification, and reliability testing.
  • Hands-on experience in FEA modeling of microelectronic components, including interconnects, solder joints, BGAs, and advanced packaging structures.
  • Proficient in scripting and process automation using Python, MATLAB, or APDL to streamline pre-processing, simulation, and post-processing workflows for parametric and sensitivity studies.
  • Solid understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes, advanced packaging technologies, material properties, and associated design and reliability constraints.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing, executing, and interpreting validation experiments to correlate and calibrate simulation models with empirical data.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in cross-functional, cross-cultural, and geographically distributed teams.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Materials Science, Physics, or closely related field with 15+ years of experience or Masters in Engineering, Business, or comparable engineering degree, Master’s with 13+ years experience, or PhD with 10+ years experience.
  • Over 10 years of hands-on experience in FEA modeling and simulation within the high-tech or semiconductor industry.
  • Expertise in leading FEA tools such as ANSYS, Abaqus, HyperMesh, and related pre/post-processing software.
  • Extensive experience in static and dynamic simulations, including linear and nonlinear analyses involving geometric and material nonlinearity.
  • In-depth understanding of advanced semiconductor packaging, interconnect structures, and reliability modeling techniques.
  • Strong technical writing skills with the ability to produce clear, comprehensive documentation and communicate complex concepts effectively across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated analytical thinking, technical problem-solving, and a proactive approach to tackling complex engineering challenges.
  • You’re inclusive, adapting your style to the situation and diverse global norms of our people.
  • An avid learner, you approach challenges with curiosity and resilience, seeking data to help build understanding.

Base Pay Range
$180,950$289,050 USD
