The Sr Staff Accountant will analyze financial records, manage accounting staff, prepare reports, ensure compliance, and provide financial insights.

The Sr Staff Accountant position will be responsible for analyzing complex financial records and reports, regulating and authenticating financial transactions, balancing accounts, confirming and verifying bank statements on behalf of the company and maintaining a ledger to ensure effectiveness and accuracy of all accounting tasks. This role will report to the Controller and as a key member of the Finance team, they must have thorough knowledge of accounting procedures, including preparing month-end reports and financial forecasts.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establish integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions in accordance with U.S. GAAP standards.
- Complete month-end close procedures, including reviewing the reconciliations and workpapers prepared by the staff, recording adjusting entries, variance analysis and other managerial reconciliations and reports.
- Manage shared services accounting staff for billing, collections, payroll and financial reporting.
- Prepare monthly general ledger account reconciliations and state financials.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to promote the professional development of accounting staff.
- Analyze financial and operational data to provide meaningful and actionable business insights.
- Work with auditors by providing necessary/requested support to facilitate financial and compliance audits.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations including tracking and reporting of taxes owed to various tax authorities.
- Maintain a strong partnership with Operations and Management teams, identifying cost-saving opportunities, process improvements and automation.
- Provide financial, operational, and cost analysis support for management.
- Assist with preparation of quarterly Audit Committee materials, consolidated quarterly and yearly financials as well as other monthly reporting packages.
- Additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- 5+ years of experience in a Sr. Accountant role.
- CPA (preferred).
- Strong Microsoft Excel, QuickBooks, and data management skills.
- Excellent leadership, collaboration, and communication skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure in an agile, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work autonomously while providing effective communication to leadership.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills and superior accounting skills.
- Highly responsive and reliable.
- Strong attention to detail.
