Role Overview

The Senior Solutions Architect exists to guide enterprise customers through complex migrations from legacy identity and directory architectures to JumpCloud's Open Directory Platform. As enterprise customer engagements scale, this role addresses the critical need for dedicated domain subject matter experts (SMEs) across complex ecosystems involving cloud directory integrations, conditional access policies, MFA configurations, PAM, and multi-OS device management to drive structured, repeatable deployments. You will serve as the trusted technical authority bridging customer business requirements with robust architectural execution while establishing clear deployment milestones that drive platform adoption and time-to-value. By leading high-stakes enterprise engagements and contributing to Go-to-Market technical enablement, you will directly accelerate JumpCloud's enterprise retention, expansion, and customer delight.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Purpose: Act as a high-impact technical advisor empowering global organizations to modernize identity management, consolidate disparate tooling, and establish secure access architectures via JumpCloud's Open Directory Platform.
  • Growth: Establish and own org-wide Subject Matter Expertise across enterprise IAM, complex Microsoft ecosystems, and modern device management, while expanding leadership influence across GTM functions, architectural standards, and team enablement.
  • Motivators: Exercise autonomous ownership over complex enterprise deployments, solve multi-faceted architectural challenges, and collaborate closely with cross-functional leaders in a high-growth, modern cloud identity company.

Major Performance Objectives:

    1. Within the first 6 months, independently facilitate comprehensive discovery sessions and technical workshops for your assigned Professional Services engagements and related Projects, defining clear migration milestones and technical roadmaps while mitigating architectural scope gaps and mastering your knowledge of the JumpCloud platform.
    2. By Month 6, successfully execute hands-on technical deployments and directory cutovers (including Active Directory, Okta, and Google Workspace migrations) associated with your migration Projects. This will mark your first delivery of time-to-value and MVP metrics.
    3. Within 9 months, you will have completed your first projects and begun engaging more heavily with your Enterprise Projects. Success metrics are established, and your Enterprise Projects are on-track. You will be familiar with scoping, discovering, planning and executing across the entire JumpCloud customer lifecycle.
    4. Within and beyond 12 months, you will be managing ongoing high-complexity enterprise customer engagements in partnership with Customer Success counterparts, achieving target deployment milestones. You will be maintaining and improving your core metrics and contributing to your technical area of expertise in the form of technical documentation and guides, cross-departmental collaborations, and involvement in other go-to-market efforts and strategic technical conversations. You will begin using your knowledge to update internal processes and knowledge, and act as a mentor for newer team members.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

  • Must-have functional skills:
    • Enterprise identity architecture design and technical discovery facilitation for large-scale customer environments.

    • Proven track record executing end-to-end directory migrations and integrations that enable automated JML functions.

    • Deep technical implementation expertise in authentication and provisioning protocols (SAML 2.0, OIDC, SCIM, JIT, RADIUS).

    • Multi-OS device management and policy deployment across Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android.

    • Preferred domain knowledge:
      • Advanced understanding of complex Microsoft enterprise ecosystems (Active Directory, Entra ID, Azure AD Connect, Intune, Microsoft 365, AVD).

      • Enterprise identity governance, zero-trust security frameworks, and network authentication mechanisms (SSH, SMB/Samba, Kerberos).

      • Professional Services delivery methodologies, structured customer engagement governance, and adoption tracking.

      • Tools or systems knowledge:
        • JumpCloud Admin Console or equivalent cloud identity and directory platforms.

        • Identity and Directory Providers: Microsoft Active Directory, Okta, Entra ID, Google Workspace.

        • Device Management / MDM: Microsoft Intune, Apple MDM (ABM/ASM), Jamf, Iru, ME, etc.

        • Agentic tooling and effective LLM usage: Claude, Gemini, ChatGPT, MCPs.

        • Scripting and automation tools: PowerShell, Bash, and REST APIs.

        • Behavioral or power skills:
          • High-conviction technical communication with the ability to articulate complex architectural concepts clearly to both technical admins and executive stakeholders.

          • Structured analytical problem-solving and rigorous time management across concurrent customer engagements.

          • Proactive cross-functional partnership across Customer Success, Engineering, Sales, Support, and Product teams.

In accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the approximate annual compensation range for this role, depending on individual candidate level and experience, is $125,000 - $175,000, including base salary and any related bonuses or commissions.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
