We offer personalized guidance on how much to save, how to invest, when to retire, and more, based on individual circumstances. We challenge the status quo and foster a culture of curiosity. We focus on solving problems, optimizing our product development process, and enhancing team productivity through collaboration and AI. We value product thinking, involve engineers early in the process, and appreciate contributions from all team members.
The Role:
We're seeking talented engineers to build next-generation applications. The role includes participating in an equitable on-call rotation (approximately two weeks every three months) and offers ongoing opportunities to explore and adopt emerging technologies. You'll work closely with partners across Product, Operations, and Marketing to deliver high-quality features, drive engineering excellence, and continuously refine our technology ecosystem.
Position Location: Toronto, ON (this is a hybrid role requiring 4 days in-office)

  • Can think critically about when AI is helpful, and when it isn't.
  • Bring positivity, energy, and a collaborative spirit to the team.

Nice to Haves - Not Requirements:
The list below is to provide you with a sense of the technologies and practices we work with. We really mean these to be "nice to haves."

  • Proficiency in HTML/CSS and modern JavaScript frameworks like Vue.js.
  • Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs.
  • Experience in writing SQL scripts.
  • Experience working with cloud services, preferably AWS.

  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals (HTTP(s), basic security principles).
  • Experience using CI/CD pipelines such as AWS CodeDeploy.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Experience in C# and .NET Core.
  • Experience with engineering best practices (design docs, code reviews, pair programming, Agile workflows).

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
