A little about us

The Privacy Platforms team manages Yahoo's Privacy management system, playing a critical role in ensuring Yahoo's compliance with various privacy regulations across different regions. We are responsible for providing the platform and services that allow our customers and partners to manage their privacy choices through online access and web service APIs. All Yahoo brands' privacy options are accessed through Privacy Platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop privacy solutions to protect sensitive data ensuring alignment with compliance regulations, business needs, and priorities.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather business requirements and formulate technical solutions.

  • Evaluate emerging technologies and trends to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.

  • Identify and mitigate technical risks and potential security vulnerabilities in the development process.

  • Lead and mentor junior engineers by providing guidance and support throughout the design and development phases.

  • Foster teamwork, offer learning opportunities, and provide solutions to technical challenges that the team might encounter.

  • Drive operational excellence by ensuring adherence to best practices across our products.

Qualifications

  • BS/MS in Computer Science or a related major.

  • Minimum of 5 and a maximum of 10 years of experience in software development, including the daily writing and review of code within an agile development environment.

  • Java Expertise: Extensive, advanced-level development experience with Java on Linux platforms, demonstrating a high level of proficiency.

  • Cloud Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience designing and building systems on public cloud infrastructure, specifically Amazon Web Services (AWS).

  • Cloud Services: Moderate level expertise in cloud technologies, including serverless computing, key-value datastores, CDNs, VPCs, data processing and visualization, containerization technologies, particularly Kubernetes, and understanding their role in modern cloud architectures.

  • API Development: Advanced knowledge of API development, including RESTful principles, and experience with mocking API requests and responses for testing and development purposes. Deep understanding of web technologies like Cookies and their role in API interactions.

Nice to Haves

  • Version Control: Familiarity with version control systems, especially Git, and understanding of branching strategies and collaborative workflows.

  • Frontend Skills: Knowledge of frontend web technologies, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Node.js, and JavaScript frameworks like React, to contribute to full-stack development or collaborate effectively with frontend teams.

  • Other Programming Languages: Experience with scripting languages like Python or Ruby, which can be valuable for automation, tooling, or specific project requirements.

The compensation for this position ranges from $128,250.00 - $266,875.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience.The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions.
