The role & impact
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be a hands-on contributor responsible for shipping high-impact features while simultaneously evolving the platform they sit on. You'll solve complex engineering problems at scale—whether that’s refactoring monolithic systems into resilient microservices or optimizing our React-based frontend for maximum performance.Your role is unique: you will deliver seamless customer experiences while acting as a frontend champion. By building with an "enablement mindset," you ensure that the patterns, libraries, and tools you create for your own features also empower other teams across the portfolio to build better software.
The team & how they connect
Our team bridges the gap between product delivery and frontend architecture. We believe the best platform tools are born from solving real-world product challenges. This means we spend our time both shipping customer-facing features and refining the shared foundations—like component libraries and build tooling—that make development better for everyone. We are a highly collaborative group that values pragmatism over rigid standards. We work closely with Product and Design to deliver high-quality user experiences, using our unique position to ensure our frontend ecosystem remains modern, performant, and consistent across the portfolio. The team is currently working on

  • Feature Delivery & Innovation: Building and scaling customer-facing features with a focus on performance and usability.

  • Frontend Platform Evolution: Modernizing our React and TypeScript ecosystem to improve the speed and quality of development for our team and others.

  • Architecture Modernization: Transitioning monolithic systems into scalable, distributed C# .NET microservices and modular frontend components.

  • Shared Ecosystems: Strengthening our internal engineering environment by building the shared libraries, SDKs, and patterns that enable seamless integration across the portfolio.

Here are some of the things we are looking for

  • Frontend-Leaning Full Stack Expertise: You have strong experience across the stack, with a deep proficiency in React and TypeScript. You enjoy the challenges of the backend (C#/.NET, AWS, Kubernetes) but have a particular passion for crafting high-quality frontend architectures.

  • Product & Design Collaboration: You are a highly collaborative engineer who enjoys working closely with Product Managers and Designers. You advocate for the best user outcomes, provide technical feasibility insights early in the design process, and have a keen eye for UI/UX detail.

  • A "Lead by Example" Mindset: You enjoy building features, but you naturally look for ways to turn your solutions into reusable libraries or patterns that help other teams.

  • Distributed Systems & Scalability: You have high proficiency in the architecture and implementation of distributed systems and understand how to maintain state and performance in complex SPAs.

  • Lifecycle & DevOps Ownership: You demonstrate a deep understanding of the full development lifecycle—including design, testing, CI/CD, and proactively managing production systems.

  • Technical Mentorship: You have a proven ability to mentor and coach engineers, fostering growth and advocating for frontend best practices within a cross-functional team.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
