JOB MISSION
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to build and scale the integrations that power ChartHop as the central hub for company data. From HR and finance platforms to identity services, messaging tools, and business intelligence systems, our integrations ensure that organizations have the insights they need to operate effectively.

You’ll be joining a small but mighty team to help drive Charthop's mission and technical direction. Our tech stack leverages Kotlin and MongoDB on the back end, TypeScript and React on the front end, and AWS for infrastructure.

As a Senior Software Engineer - Integrations, you will:

  • Develop, maintain, and incrementally improve integrations across a wide range of business systems, from HRIS/Payroll to Applicant Tracking Systems and notifications.

  • Design APIs and data pipelines to ensure smooth and reliable third-party connectivity.

  • Own the full development lifecycle, from researching API documentation, ideation, and planning to writing robust code, managing deployment, and monitoring integration health.

  • Implement and maintain tests, conduct code reviews, and follow best practices for code quality and maintainability.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, customer success, and external partners to ensure integrations meet business and technical requirements.

  • Continuously improve how we build and manage integrations, from developer tooling to monitoring and alerting

ROLE KPIs

We will measure your success through:

  • Integration Reliability: Uptime, error rates, and data accuracy across our third-party connections

  • Code Quality & Maintainability: Measured through code reviews, adherence to best practices, and long-term sustainability

  • Feature Delivery: Proportion of features delivered on time and within scope

  • Customer Impact:  Reduction in support tickets and friction in our integration experience while improving data quality

  • Contribution to Team Goals: Impact on overall team productivity, collaboration, and innovation

  • Continuous Learning: Engagement in learning new technologies and sharing knowledge with the team

Skills and Experiences We Value:

  • Experience building and maintaining third-party integrations (HRIS, Payroll, ATS, Business Intelligence, or similar platforms preferred).

  • Proficiency in back-end software development - experience with Kotlin or other JVM-based languages is a plus, but strong engineers from other backgrounds are welcome!

  • Strong API experience, including working with REST, GraphQL, webhooks, OAuth, and data synchronization

  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot API issues

  • Advanced problem-solving skills with attention to detail

  • Strong ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences, adapting messaging to ensure clarity and alignment.

  • Proactive and able to effectively manage workload and priorities

Wondering if you meet the qualifications? We seek to continue to grow an inclusive and representative team that will enhance our perspectives, skill sets, background and behaviors.  We encourage experienced engineers eager to contribute and make an impact to apply!

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
