Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century’s most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril’s family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.

ABOUT THE JOB

At Anduril, our Software Engineers are at the forefront of defense technology, crafting high-impact, cutting-edge solutions that redefine innovation. You'll dive into a diverse range of projects, partnering with brilliant minds across disciplines to engineer robust software systems that empower our mission-critical operations. We're seeking talented guidance, navigation, and control engineers on several teams to contribute to projects that are shaping the future of defense.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Design, develop, and implement advanced GNC algorithms for autonomous vehicles and systems, ensuring precise trajectory tracking, stable flight, and accurate maneuvering.
  • Develop and validate sophisticated control systems, state estimation techniques (e.g., Kalman filtering), and trajectory optimization methods for complex dynamic environments.
  • Collaborate closely with hardware engineers, software engineers, and systems engineers to integrate GNC solutions, ensuring seamless interaction with sensors, actuators, and computing platforms.
  • Simulate, test, and analyze GNC system performance using advanced modeling and simulation tools, identifying and mitigating potential flight risks.
  • Contribute to the entire lifecycle of GNC systems, from conceptual design and algorithm development to implementation, verification, validation, and flight testing.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Strong Foundational Knowledge: A solid academic background in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Physics, with a specialization in control systems and dynamics.
  • Expertise in GNC Principles: Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated professional experience in designing and implementing GNC algorithms and control systems for aerospace or autonomous vehicle applications.
  • Algorithm Development & Implementation: Proven success in developing and implementing GNC algorithms, including areas such as trajectory generation, state estimation (e.g., Kalman Filters, Particle Filters), and control laws (e.g., PID, LQR).
  • MATLAB & Simulink Proficiency: Demonstrated experience with MATLAB and Simulink for modeling, simulation, algorithm development, and analysis of dynamic systems.
  • Driven by Mission Success: A proactive drive and enthusiasm for developing GNC systems that are critical for mission success, safety, and operational effectiveness in demanding environments.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
