Senior Full Stack Software Engineer — News & Insights
We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to join the News & Insights team. The team builds the platform behind Realtor.com’s high-traffic news experience, serving millions of readers and distributing content to major publishing partners.
This is a backend-heavy full-stack role for an engineer who can own server-side systems while contributing to frontend features. You will work across APIs, data integrations, React and Next.js product surfaces, caching, and platform reliability while partnering with Product, editorial stakeholders, and other engineers.
The role will also contribute to the AI-powered Hyperlocal content experience. Cloud delivery, CI/CD, and operational reliability are important parts of the work, but the role is not primarily a DevOps position.
What You’ll Do:
Full-Stack Product Development
We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to join the News & Insights team. The team builds the platform behind Realtor.com’s high-traffic news experience, serving millions of readers and distributing content to major publishing partners.

What You’ll Do:
Full-Stack Product Development
- Build and expand consumer-facing features across the frontend and backend.
- Contribute to React and Next.js features, especially when work spans both sides of a product feature.
- Own full-stack work from technical design through testing, release, and production support.
Backend Systems & APIs
- Design, build, and scale backend services and APIs supporting the News & Insights platform.
- Develop and maintain Node.js and TypeScript services, GraphQL schemas, persisted queries, and RESTful APIs.
- Own server-side data flows and make sound decisions around service boundaries, performance, and maintainability.
Platform Performance & Reliability
- Improve caching and delivery strategies, including CDN or edge caching, object caching, and incremental rendering.
- Contribute to logging, monitoring, alerting, incident response, and production reliability.
- Support automated testing, CI/CD, and safe, repeatable releases in partnership with platform and infrastructure teams.
Hyperlocal & Collaboration
- Contribute to the backend services, integrations, and data flows supporting the AI-powered Hyperlocal content platform.
- Work closely with Product, editorial stakeholders, and engineering partners to shape technical priorities.
- Communicate technical trade-offs clearly and contribute to design discussions, code reviews, Agile ceremonies, and roadmap planning.
What You'll Bring:
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with a strong backend foundation and meaningful frontend experience.
- Experience owning full-stack features or product areas from design through production.
- Strong JavaScript or TypeScript experience; Node.js is strongly preferred.
- Experience building frontend features with React, Next.js, or a comparable modern framework.
- Experience designing and operating RESTful APIs, GraphQL APIs, or comparable service interfaces.
- Experience with automated testing, production troubleshooting, and reliability-focused engineering decisions.
- Familiarity with cloud deployment, CI/CD, AWS, or comparable platform practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Technical Skills
- Frontend: React, Next.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, and modern frontend testing.
- Backend: Node.js, GraphQL, REST APIs, service integrations, and data modeling.
- Performance: CDN or edge caching, object caching, application caching, and incremental rendering.
- Platform: AWS, CI/CD, containerized deployments, logging, monitoring, and incident response.
- AI and content systems: Practical use of AI coding tools; experience with content, publishing, media, SEO, or localized content systems is helpful.
Direct WordPress experience is not required. More important is the ability to work effectively across frontend and backend systems and contribute to a high-traffic consumer platform.
