About Onebrief

Onebrief is collaboration and AI-powered workflow software designed specifically for military staffs. By transforming this work, Onebrief makes the staff as a whole superhuman - meaning faster, smarter, and more efficient.

We take ownership, seek excellence, and play to win with the seriousness and camaraderie of an Olympic team. Onebrief operates as an all-remote company, though many of our employees work alongside our customers at military commands around the world.

Founded in 2019 by a group of experienced planners, today, Onebrief’s team spans veterans from all forces and global organizations, and technologists from leading-edge software companies. We’ve raised $320m+ from top-tier investors, including Battery Ventures, General Catalyst, Sapphire Ventures, Insight Partners, and Human Capital, and today, Onebrief is valued at $2.15B. With this continued growth, Onebrief is able to make an impact where it matters most.

About the Role

As a Senior Software Engineer, Frontend you'll work in close collaboration with our product, design, and tech operations teams. You'll be responsible for supporting the development of modern user interfaces and driving consistent and intuitive experiences across our platform. You will be tasked with exploring new paradigms, libraries, and frameworks within the JavaScript and React ecosystem to accelerate frontend development and improve application performance. This is a hands-on role, but you'll also play a key function in continuously improving our end-to-end architecture and developer experience.

About You

You are an expert in building modern web interfaces and you manage complex client state with care. You hold a high bar for accessibility, security, testing and performance and are fluent in React and TypeScript. You thrive in ambiguous environments and proactively drive clarity and adoption across teams. Experience with military, government, or highly regulated domains is a plus but not required.

What You'll Do
  • Collaborate closely with product and design to build user-facing features at scale

  • Support and unblock peers through async reviews, pairing, and mentorship

  • Work in an async-first way, aligning clearly on scope, tradeoffs, and outcomes

  • Drive frontend best practices, through deliverables, demos and documentation

What We Look For
  • 6+ years as a Software Engineer with a focus in frontend development, including owning meaningful product or platform surfaces

  • Experience delivering responsive, accessible and performant UI capabilities

  • High proficiency in modern frontend technologies like Typescript and React and testing frameworks like Playwright

  • Experience collaborating across teams to deliver elegant, strategic solutions to defined problems

  • A comprehensive understanding of the current state of web technology and best practices

  • A track record of shipping in B2B SaaS or similarly demanding domains

  • Clear, context-rich communication across PRs, RFCs, and collaborative docs

  • Comfort navigating ambiguity and low-process, async environments

  • Hands-on experience improving team velocity via tooling or process improvements

Core tech we use
  • Frontend: React, TypeScript, Vite, shared component libraries, client-side observability

  • Backend: Node.js, PostgreSQL, Redis, secure RESTful APIs

  • Infrastructure: Kubernetes, AWS, CI/CD pipelines

  • Integrations: CSV/Excel/KML importers, JWT auth, PDF exports, DoD data systems

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
