Every day, tens of millions of people come to Roblox to explore, create, play, learn, and connect with friends in 3D immersive digital experiences– all created by our global community of developers and creators.

At Roblox, we’re building the tools and platform that empower our community to bring any experience that they can imagine to life. Our vision is to reimagine the way people come together, from anywhere in the world, and on any device. We’re on a mission to connect a billion people with optimism and civility, and looking for amazing talent to help us get there.

A career at Roblox means you’ll be working to shape the future of human interaction, solving unique technical challenges at scale, and helping to create safer, more civil shared experiences for everyone.

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Brand Platform and MarTech team, helping shape how the world’s biggest brands and businesses come alive on Roblox. Our team builds innovative tools across commerce (physical goods shopping), profile‑presence, and immersive integrations, enabling partners to reach millions of users in new ways. As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll dive in wherever the challenge is—front end, back end, Roblox Engine and infrastructure—and ship polished, scalable features solutions with real business impact.

This team operates within Ads and Brands – one of Roblox’s newest and fastest-growing organizations.  We strive to establish Roblox as the leading platform for immersive advertising, delivering transformative experiences that benefit brands, businesses, and users alike.

You Will
  • Ship end‑to‑end features that span webapps, game integrations, APIs, and data pipelines—often juggling several tech stacks in the same week.
  • Own projects from concept to launch: break down ambiguous product ideas, choose the right technologies, write clean code, and measure impact in production.
  • Raise the engineering bar by reviewing code, shaping best practices, and mentoring peers and early‑career engineers.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with Product, Design, Data, and partner teams to define roadmaps, unblock decisions, and deliver on tight timelines.
  • Think at platform scale, designing secure, reliable systems that handle billions of items, transactions, and impressions.
  • Push for continuous improvement—whether it’s performance wins, developer‑experience tooling, or new frameworks that unlock speed and quality.
You Have
  • 3-6 years of professional software development experience delivering production systems at scale.
  • Full‑stack fluency: comfortable jumping between React/TypeScript, Node/Go/C#, cloud infrastructure (GCP/AWS), SQL/NoSQL data stores, and whatever else the next project needs.
  • A high sense of drive and ownership; you thrive on autonomy, set aggressive goals, and follow through.
  • Strong system‑design skills (async workflows, distributed services, data modeling, security).
  • Proven collaboration chops: clear communicator, adept at explaining trade‑offs to non‑engineers, and proactive in unblocking teammates.
  • BS/BA in CS, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Bonus Points
  • Experience with e‑commerce platforms, or large‑scale analytics.
  • Familiarity with Lua, Roblox Studio, or game‑engine development pipelines.
  • Contributions to open‑source or developer tooling.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
