We're a profitable, high growth FinTech unicorn serving millions of people, many of whom are building credit or navigating life paycheck to paycheck. Senior Software Engineer - B2B SaaS New Initiatives

At Kikoff, we’ve redefined how people build financial confidence, helping millions of Americans establish credit, access smarter financial products, and reach their goals.

We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help build and shape something new from the ground up. You'll be joining a small, focused team launching an enterprise platform that major financial institutions will depend on every day. This is a rare 0-to-1 opportunity where your architectural decisions, technical choices, and product instincts will define how we build and scale this initiative.

You'll have significant ownership over how we design the platform architecture, establish development practices, and approach complex credit workflows. You'll be a key voice in shaping the product strategy and determining how we balance speed with the rigorous security and compliance requirements that come with handling credit data at scale.

What We’re Looking For
  • 5+ years of experience building and scaling production systems.

  • Comfortable leveraging AI tools to work smarter and ship better products faster without sacrificing quality.

  • Experience with Ruby on Rails is a plus but not required; we value strong fundamentals and the ability to learn quickly.

  • A builder’s mindset — thrives in ambiguity, takes initiative, and enjoys owning systems end-to-end.

  • You communicate technical complexity clearly and appropriately depending on the audience, listen actively and humbly to feedback, and know that great software is built by teams, not individuals.

  • Deep understanding of system design, API development, and integrations, especially with third-party platforms.

Base Range
$244,000$292,000 USD

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
