Senior Software Engineer, Perception
Parallel is seeking an experienced technical leader to own and drive our perception program. In this role, you’ll be responsible for integrating various components of our perception and autonomy stack while building and leading a small team of talented engineers. This role combines systems integration expertise with hands-on AI development, requiring both strong technical depth and leadership capabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Own the entire perception product lifecycle, from design and development to testing and deployment
- Integrate perception and autonomy hardware and software into the Parallel vehicle
- Manage autonomy system requirements and lead system testing to ensure compliance
- Build and mentor a small team of engineers
- Contribute actively to software architecture as a hands-on technical lead
- Drive technical decision-making for autonomy systems based on industry best practices
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- 5+ years of experience in autonomous systems, robotics, or related fields
- 3+ years of experience in systems-level languages (C, C++, or Rust)
- Professional experience with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX
- Professional experience with AV sensor technologies including cameras, LiDAR, radar, and ultrasonic sensors
Preferred Qualifications:
- Track record of successfully shipping complex software systems on time
- Experience with perception, prediction, or planning components of autonomy stacks
- Experience developing with Rust, especially in embedded platforms
- Knowledge of ROS (Robot Operating System) or similar frameworks
- Experience with sensor fusion and calibration
- Understanding of safety-critical software design principles

Salary ranges are listed below and reflect the expected range for new hires in this role, based on factors such as skills, experience, qualifications, and location. Final compensation may vary and will be determined during the interview process. The target hiring range for this position is listed below.
Target Salary Range:
$150,000—$215,000 USD
