Design and implement AI-powered features for fitness businesses, focusing on LLMs and building scalable APIs using Node.js and React.
About PushPress
PushPress is building the Intelligent Industry Ledger for boutique fitness.
We’re transforming how boutique gyms operate — and how the entire $100B fitness industry connects, transacts, and grows. Trusted by 5,000+ gyms and 500,000+ members, PushPress processes over $500M annually and is backed by Altos Ventures and Mucker Capital.
We're evolving from a traditional business system of record into an AI-powered Industry Ledger — an intelligent infrastructure layer that brings order to a highly fragmented boutique fitness industry. By unifying disconnected operators, workflows, and data into a single platform, we’re enabling faster decisions, new business models, cross-gym collaboration, and network effects that increase the value of every studio in our client base.
We’re a global team of builders, operators, and fitness fanatics on a mission to level the playing field for fitness entrepreneurs. If you're ready to help reshape an industry — let’s talk.
About the Role
We are looking for an AI Engineer to build a new AI-powered product that helps gyms and fitness studios grow their business. You'll work with cutting-edge LLMs to create practical features that solve real problems for fitness business owners, owning the entire product lifecycle from concept to launch. This is a rare opportunity to build a high-growth product from the ground up.
What You'll Do
- Design and ship AI features end-to-end using LLMs from OpenAI, Anthropic, and other providers
- Build scalable Node.js/Fastify APIs for prompt engineering, RAG pipelines, and model orchestration
- Create intuitive React/TypeScript interfaces using emerging AI UX patterns (streaming responses, confidence indicators, explainable outputs)
- Make product decisions that balance technical capabilities with user needs and business growth
- Optimize for performance, cost, and accuracy across different AI models
What You'll Need
- 3+ years building production applications with Node.js and React
- Strong TypeScript skills and experience with modern web APIs
- Hands-on experience shipping features with LLMs (GPT-4, Claude, etc.)
- Strong product sense - ability to identify what features will drive growth and retention
- Experience with AI UX patterns and making AI outputs trustworthy for users
- Track record of building products that scaled from 0 to thousands of users
Nice to Have
- Experience with Fastify or similar Node.js frameworks
- Background with vector databases and embedding models
- Previous work on high-growth B2B SaaS products
- Experience at AI-first companies or fast-growing startups
Why PushPress
- Build a product from scratch that will impact thousands of fitness businesses
- Work with the latest AI technologies in a practical, user-focused way
