This is a full-time hybrid role for a Quality Assurance Engineer located in San Francisco, CA.
Compensation
We are looking for a Senior SDET to lead the design, standardization, and evolution of our browser automation ecosystem.
You will work closely with FDE engineers to establish automation architecture, define best practices, and build the shared foundations that enable reliable and efficient development of business-critical automation workflows.
This role requires a strong combination of Python engineering, deep Playwright expertise, systems thinking, and a hands-on approach to building automation that runs in production environments.
- Design and build a core browser automation framework in Python and Playwright
- Standardize patterns, conventions, and best practices across automation projects
- Develop and maintain browser automation workflows that support production business processes
- Create reusable tooling and abstractions that enable FDE engineers to build automation faster and more consistently
- Improve automation reliability through better error handling, retries, logging, and diagnostics
- Partner with engineers across teams through code reviews, technical guidance, and hands-on collaboration
- 6+ years of experience in software engineering, SDET, or test automation engineering roles
- Strong Python skills and experience writing clean, maintainable, reusable code
- Deep hands-on experience with Playwright and browser automation for complex UI workflows
- Proven experience building or evolving automation frameworks and shared libraries
- Experience with automation execution models such as scheduling, orchestration, retries, and monitoring
- Ability to identify common patterns and turn fragmented solutions into scalable abstractions
- Comfort working in fast-paced, ambiguous startup environments
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Experience with AWS-based environments
- Experience with workflow automation beyond traditional test automation
The base pay range for this role is $140 – $180 per year.
