Develop and maintain backend features for gaming organizations, integrating Web2 and Web3 technologies while ensuring performance and scalability.
XBorg powers fan engagement for the world's biggest esports teams - Team Liquid, Ninjas in Pyjamas, JD Gaming, and more. We're building the infrastructure that lets these organizations create personalized, gamified experiences for millions of fans.
Incubated by SwissBorg with $10M+ raised, we're now expanding beyond gaming and entering the AI race with a new product that will change how the world's largest brands engage with their audiences.
The Technical Context
While most of our infrastructure is traditional web2 (Nest.js, PostgreSQL, AWS), some of our fan applications live on-chain: Team Liquid's fan app runs on Sui, Ninjas in Pyjamas on Chiliz. This means our backend needs to bridge both worlds seamlessly.
We're not looking for a blockchain maximalist or someone who wants to rebuild everything on-chain. We're looking for a strong backend engineer who can navigate the blockchain layer when needed - whether that's integrating with smart contracts, managing on-chain/off-chain data sync, or optimizing how we leverage developer tools native to the various blockchains we integrate.
So while you will spend most of your time building and shipping exciting new features, some of them will sit at the intersection of traditional backends and blockchain tech.
What You'll Do
- Ship Features: We move quickly. You'll be shipping new game-like mechanics and AI integrations to live production systems used by top esports teams and gaming brands to engage with their fans.
- Bridge Web2 and Web3: When features touch the blockchain layer (NFT rewards, token distributions, on-chain achievements), you'll implement the integrations. Design APIs for wallet connections, handle transaction flows, and sync on-chain events with our core database.
- Optimize What's There: Identify performance bottlenecks in existing features and fix them. Monitor production systems, improve query performance, optimize API response times, and keep things running smoothly under load.
- Debug and Deploy: Fix bugs quickly when they appear. Own features end-to-end from implementation to production monitoring.
What We're Looking For
- Strong expertise in Nest.js, PostgreSQL, AWS, Docker, and TypeScript
- Track record of shipping features to production regularly in fast-paced environments
- Experience with API design and third-party integrationsPrevious experience working at a Web3 company or building dApps
- Familiarity with smart contract interactions, wallet integrations, or on-chain data indexing
What You'll Get
- ๐ฐ Competitive salary + XBG token package
- ๐ฎ Weekly gaming sessions with the team and community
- โ๏ธ Bi-yearly team retreats + financial support for conferences and events
- ๐ Full remote flexibility (work from anywhere)
Why This Role Matters
You'll be building infrastructure that powers fan experiences for some of the most iconic esports organizations in the world. You'll solve interesting technical problems that most backend engineers never encounter - from syncing millions of user actions across centralized databases and decentralized networks, or designing APIs that feel native whether they're hitting PostgreSQL or a blockchain RPC.
If you're a strong backend engineer who has experience in blockchain, this is your chance to work on a hybrid stack that combines the best of both worlds and is used by some of the most renowned gaming companies in the world.
