Job Description
Her Campus Media is seeking a creative, organized, thoughtful, growth-minded Senior Social Media Manager to support strategy and content creation on Her Campus, College Fashionista, Spoon University social and newsletter platforms, driving growth and engagement across accounts. This role is responsible for the day-to-day social content creation and operations for assigned accounts, working in partnership with editors, associates, designers, and the branded content team. This is a fast-paced role that requires managing full-time editors and many moving parts, reacting to pop-culture news in real time, ideating and executing innovative strategies to drive growth and engagement, analyzing data to make optimizations, developing social promotion strategies for editorial initiatives, and more.
The ideal candidate is someone who is Instagram- and TikTok-native with their finger on the pulse of all things Gen Z and Gen Zalpha. This person should be comfortable creating content themselves and appearing on camera, is a chameleon who can handle a wide range of topics from pop culture to viral recipes, is equal parts creative editor and data-driven strategist with sharp news judgment, is a fast but intentional worker, and is eager to evolve our social identities and grow our communities in major ways.
This remote role reports to the Director of Social and manages two full-time associate social editors and a social intern.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Oversee all day-to-day content creation, posting, and social operations for all Her Campus, Spoon University, and College Fashionista social platforms, with a focus on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and Pinterest.
- Manage two full-time editors and seasonal interns, working closely with them to assign and edit daily social content and evergreen assignments, and maintain the social content calendar
- Work closely with the Director of Social to evolve and refine social vision and strategy, working collaboratively across departments to execute
- Lead the execution of non-video social franchises for Her Campus, Spoon University, and College Fashionista, as well as the planning and packaging of original Her Campus and Spoon University video franchises
- Own operations for Study Break, Her Campus’s twice weekly newsletter, closely monitoring metrics and collaborating with HCM’s internal team to increase open rates and subscribers
- Regularly analyze social data, preparing weekly reports and insights and optimizing daily and long-term strategy based on the results
- Drive growth and engagement across Her Campus, Spoon University, and College Fashionista platforms through regular testing of innovative approaches and trends
- React in real-time as necessary to cover and respond to relevant pop-culture or live events in a timely manner, with the understanding that this sometimes means jumping on to cover something outside of work hours
- Regularly collaborate with the HCM Community team on recruitment promotion and community feature opportunities
- Prioritize diversity, equity, and inclusion through your work in order to serve our diverse
- audience and community
- Keep your finger on the pulse of new social platforms, trends, and happenings; Gen Z & Gen Zalpha culture; and the overall competitive social landscape

- Bachelor’s degree
- 4+ years of experience working in social media, preferably with a focus on Gen Z/women’s digital media brands, with at least 1 year of management experience
- Expert knowledge of Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and Pinterest, and general best practices for each
- Impeccable editorial and social news judgment, with the ability to curate daily coverage to prioritize audience and performance
- Proficient in mobile video editing and experience using tools like Capcut, Prequel, Canva, Edits, etc.
- Confidence in filming and appearing in video content, e.g., Reels, TikToks, YouTube videos, etc.
- Excellent writing and copyediting skills with rigorous attention to detail and deep knowledge of AP Style
- Strong understanding of Her Campus Media as a whole, as well as our media brands Her Campus, Spoon University, and College Fashionista
- Demonstrated ability and interest in working collaboratively with other departments, including community, events, branded content, integrated marketing, design, and more
- Quick and efficient worker with ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects at once
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as organizational and project management skills
- Ability to function autonomously and complete projects and tasks without close management and supervision
- Self-starter with a go-getter attitude, positive and upbeat nature, and excellent work ethic who doesn’t mind getting their hands dirty
- Interest in exploring underutilized platform-specific features and investigating new social platforms as they arise

Salary Range: $75-83k + Bonus Eligible
