Lead day-to-day social publishing and community management across core consumer channels. Create, schedule, and publish high-volume content (graphics, carousels, short-form video, copy), monitor mentions/DMs/comments, surface fundraisers, manage crisis responses, run experiments to hit growth targets, report on channel performance, and partner cross-functionally to amplify stories and route customer issues.

Want to help us help others? We’re hiring!

GoFundMe is the world’s most powerful community for good, dedicated to helping people help each other. By uniting individuals and nonprofits in one place, GoFundMe makes it easy and safe for people to ask for help and support causes—for themselves and each other. Together, our community has raised more than $40 billion since 2010.

Join us! The GoFundMe team is searching for our next Social Media Manager to own publishing and community management on our primary consumer channels to help tell these stories, show what help can do, while growing our global community of organizers, supporters, creators, and donors.

This is a hands-on role for a strategist, operator, and builder who can drive growth through a focus on good content, robust community, and best processes. You'll drive the day-to-day implementation of the social publishing strategy for each platform, helping create the content, getting it live, and monitoring the mentions, DMs, and comments, and conversation.

This role is focused on GoFundMe's core established platforms, though you will be a large part of helping us with testing into new spaces we should be in, too. You'll join a fast-moving team that leads with humanity but always works to scale its impact.

The Job

  • Create, schedule, and publish content daily across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and Threads, creating graphics, storytelling carousels, short-form video, and copy, some made with templates, other by hand or other members of the team.
  • Identify trends, fundraisers, and cultural moments worth jumping on, and recommending how we do it fast, and with expert judgment
  • Crisis: Be the team representative around our response to a crisis (such as a natural disaster like a hurricane or flood), coordinating across teams to spotlight relief resources and verified fundraisers
  • Run a high-volume cross-platform content program built around surfacing the right fundraisers at the right moment, working from a daily flagging workflow and with input from multiple stakeholders
  • Shape and own the strategy: set and hit growth targets, build a testing & experiments roadmap (formats, timing, link placement, hooks), and let the user data make the calls
  • Help manage the social editorial calendar, balancing planned campaigns, reactive opportunities, fundraising moments, and cross-functional priorities across channels
  • Exercise strong editorial judgment on sensitive content: many of our stories involve tragedy, illness, and loss, and knowing what to post, how to frame it, and when to hold is core to the job
  • Work closely with our video producer(s) on short-form video
  • Mine comments and DMs on our owned channels for stories worth amplifying and customer issues to route to support
  • Use AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT and our internal automations) for drafting, analysis, and workflow efficiency — and help push what's possible
  • Own weekly and monthly channel reporting; translate performance into clear, actionable recommendations
  • Partner cross-functionally with the Senior Social & Community Manager on Pro, as well as Communications, Brand, Creators, Product, and Customer Support, on fundraisers, major moments, and customer-focused events.

You

  • 5-7 years running social channels hands-on for medium-to-large-sized consumer and/or B2B brands, media organizations, or nonprofits — you've personally created, scheduled, and published at volume, with results you can point to
  • A strategist's brain on top of the maker's hands: you think in funnels, benchmarks, and experiments, not just posts.
  • A track record of bringing fresh ideas, bold creative thinking, and innovative approaches that drive audience growth and engagement
  • Consider yourself to be highly online and aware of what’s trending, cultural conversations, memes, and the overall newscycle. You thrive in fast-paced environments.
  • Short-form video fluency — you can work with video, edit, and caption natively for TikTok, Reels, and YouTube Shorts without relying on a production team
  • Demonstrated AI tooling fluency: you already use tools like Claude and ChatGPT in your daily workflow and get genuinely excited about what they unlock
  • You bring energy, curiosity, and a leadership mindset — connecting dots across trends, communities, platforms, and business goals to identify new opportunities for growth
  • Exceptional judgment with sensitive subject matter — experience navigating breaking news, tragedy, or high-empathy content environments. You might even have experience working in a newsroom in some capacity
  • Sharp, fast, platform-native copywriting voice
  • Comfort with social management and analytics tools (e.g., Sprout Social, Meta Business Suite, native platform analytics)
  • Self-direction: you run your channels like an owner and communicate proactively on a remote team

Preferred

  • Creator partnership or influencer program experience
  • Community management experience
  • Nonprofit experience
  • Experience at a mission-driven company, newsroom, or community platform
  • Familiarity with Looker, Amplitude, or similar analytics tools

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
