About the Role

At Going, our mission is to help people travel and experience the world, while becoming the foremost travel app in everyone’s pocket. As a bootstrapped and profitable travel-tech company with over 2.5M subscribers, we are scaling our data-driven product experience and ensure a seamless platform for our members.

We’re hiring a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to help us level up our Observability, CI/CD, Automation, Developer Experience, App Quality, and Automated Testing. In this role, you will partner across engineering and product teams to create scalable, secure, and reliable systems that meet the demands of a growing customer base. This role will work within the SRE domain, but focus more time on automation, quality, and helping increase our efficiency as an engineering team.

Key Accountabilities
  • Build observability for CI/CD performance, test flakiness, error tracking, and deployment reliability.

  • Automate testing frameworks into CI/CD processes for infrastructure, web, mobile, and backend app health.

  • Design test automation strategies that integrate seamlessly with product engineering workflows.

  • Help define, instrument, and report on SLOs and SLAs.

  • Create automated feedback loops to ensure product engineering teams can see and effectively triage bug fixes, improvements, and errors.

  • Enhance CI/CD pipelines to streamline development workflows and reduce time-to-production.

  • Build and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) to ensure consistency and repeatability of CI/CD pipelines.

  • Audit the current developer experience to identify risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Lead incident response and postmortem processes, ensuring the team is proactive in preventing future outages.

  • Act as a mentor to junior engineers, sharing best practices and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Collaborate with product, data, and engineering teams to align infrastructure with evolving business needs.

Our Values:
  • Champion travelers - We grow by delivering measurable value to members.

  • Pilots, not passengers - We take ownership with a bias for action, urgency, and shared responsibility.

  • Bet boldly - We tackle ambitious problems by making data-driven bets.

  • Start simple - We iterate quickly to quality.

  • Make it magical - We spark the joy of travel through thoughtful moments of surprise and delight.

  • Go further - We push a little harder and care a little more, especially when it matters most, because effort compounds over time.

What You Know:

Required

  • 10+ years of professional software or infrastructure engineering experience, including 2+ years in an SRE, platform, or DevOps-focused role.

  • 5+ years in a senior role leading technical decisions, project delivery, and cross-team collaboration.

  • Deep experience with CI/CD tooling and quality automation for backend, web, and mobile applications.

  • Fluency in cloud architecture and operations on AWS, GCP, or Azure.

  • Strong skills in infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform or CloudFormation).

  • Familiarity with containerized environments and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Proficient in observability and monitoring systems (Datadog preferred, or Prometheus/ELK/Otel).

  • Solid understanding of modern security and compliance best practices.

  • Strong communicator and collaborator across engineering disciplines.

Preferred:

  • Experience with test automation frameworks across API, frontend, and mobile testing.

  • Programming/scripting experience in Python, Go, Bash, or Ruby.

  • Past experience managing incidents and designing for high availability.

  • Experience supporting ML/data platforms (bonus but not necessary).

  • Background working in high-scale consumer or B2B SaaS environments.

Why you might love working here
  • The salary for this role is $155,000 + equity

  • 100% remote work environment

  • Annual team retreats, with past destinations including Washington D.C., Vancouver, and Mexico City. We’re heading to Scottsdale in October and will be excited to meet you there!

  • Open vacation policy, with a 15-day minimum

  • Comprehensive health, vision, dental, and life insurance

  • 401(k) with a 5% match

  • $750/quarter remote work, wellness, and wisdom stipend

  • Up to 12 weeks of paid family leave

  • Meetup stipend when you cross paths with a co-worker

  • Continuing education & development reimbursement

  • Challenging problems to solve and an awesome team to collaborate with every single day

We want you to bring your authentic self to work every single day. We accept you for who you are and consider everyone on an equal opportunity basis without regard to ancestry; age; appearance; color; gender identity and/or expression; genetics; family or parental status; marital, civil union, or domestic partnership status; mental, physical, or sensory disability; national, social or ethnic origin; past or present military service; sexual orientation; socioeconomic status; race; religion or belief; hair length; organ donor status. What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
