About Datadog

At Datadog, we’re on a mission to bring security, observability, and performance together in a single platform. We help organizations of all sizes protect and understand their systems — from cloud infrastructure to applications — so they can deliver reliable, secure software at scale.

Our customers rely on Datadog to detect threats, monitor cloud workloads, and gain real-time visibility into their environments. We’re looking for leaders who are passionate about building teams, driving customer success, and helping organizations modernize their security operations.

The Opportunity

As a Security Sales Engineering Manager for North America, you’ll lead a team of Security Sales Engineers supporting Datadog’s Security business across enterprise and strategic accounts. Your team will partner with Sales to drive technical wins, deliver exceptional customer experiences, and grow adoption of Datadog’s Cloud Security Platform.

You’ll play a critical role in scaling our pre-sales organization — coaching your team to understand customer challenges, architect secure solutions, and demonstrate how Datadog provides unified visibility across observability and security. You’ll also work cross-functionally with Product, Marketing, and Customer Success to influence strategy and accelerate our Security go-to-market motion.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead, coach, and grow a team of Specialist Security Sales Engineers across North America
  • Optimize the utilization and alignment of Security Sales Engineers to strategic opportunities in an overlay role, driving collaboration and technical excellence alongside core account teams
  • Lead and coordinate Security Sales Engineering efforts in partnership with the North America Enterprise Security Sales teams
  • Partner with Sales Leadership to align technical strategies with revenue goals
  • Oversee customer engagements — from discovery and architecture reviews to proof-of-concept success
  • Establish best practices for demos, evaluations, and technical enablement
  • Collaborate with Product Management and Engineering to provide real-world feedback from the field
  • Represent Datadog’s security value proposition in customer and executive meetings
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and scaling efforts as Datadog’s Security business expands across the region
  • Travel periodically for team meetings, customer visits, and events (approximately 25%)
Who You Are
  • 5+ years in a technical pre-sales or security engineering role, with 2+ years in a leadership or management position
  • Strong technical knowledge across cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP), DevSecOps, and application security domains
  • Experienced in SIEM, CSPM, CNAPP, and threat detection technologies
  • Excellent communicator and mentor with the ability to influence both technical and executive audiences
  • Proven success supporting enterprise accounts in North America, with experience leading distributed teams
  • Collaborative, customer-obsessed, and motivated to grow people and process in a fast-paced environment
  • Prior experience with observability and security tools such as Datadog, Splunk, or Palo Alto Networks is a plus
Why You Should Apply
  • Lead a world-class Security Sales Engineering team in one of Datadog’s fastest-growing business areas
  • Shape Datadog’s Security go-to-market strategy across North America’s most innovative enterprises
  • Collaborate with cross-functional leaders who value inclusion, transparency, and personal growth
  • Enjoy competitive compensation, equity, benefits, and a culture that supports work–life harmony

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
