Our mission at Oura is to empower every person to own their inner potential. Our award-winning products help our global community gain a deeper knowledge of their readiness, activity, and sleep quality by using their Oura Ring and its connected app. We've helped millions of people understand and improve their health by providing daily insights and practical steps to inspire healthy lifestyles.

Empowering the world starts with living our values and empowering our team. As a quickly growing company focused on helping people live healthier and happier lives, we ensure that our team members have what they need to do their best work — both in and out of the office.

We are looking for a seasoned Senior SEC Reporting Accountant to join our Financial Reporting team. This is a senior individual contributor role for someone who brings both public accounting rigor and preferably hands-on industry SEC reporting experience. As we build toward public company readiness, this role will assist in the preparation of our financial statements and disclosures and in putting the processes and controls in place that a first-time public filer needs. You will report to the Financial Reporting Manager and partner closely with Corporate Finance, FP&A, Legal, Tax, Equity Administration, and our external auditors. This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports.

This is a remote US role. We have offices in San Francisco, San Diego and Los Angeles for those who prefer hybrid or office settings.  Employees in other major cities (such as Boston and New York) occasionally gather informally at local co-working locations.

What you will do:

  • Prepare Form 10-Q, 10-K, and 8-K financial statements, footnotes, and supporting schedules, including tie-out and support binder
  • Prepare and provide information for both external and internal reporting purposes.
  • Help build out the external reporting calendar, templates, and supporting documentation as we establish the function
  • Support our SOX initiative, particularly the design, documentation, and implementation of internal controls over financial reporting
  • Own the PBC (provided by client) rollforward and end-to-end PBC management — build and maintain the request list, chase down supporting documentation, and keep status visible to the team and our auditors
  • Partner cross-functionally to source disclosure inputs and improve reporting processes, systems, and documentation as the company scales
  • Participate in ad hoc analyses, special projects, and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

We would love to consider you for this role if you have:

  • An active CPA license — this is a requirement for the role
  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience that must include public accounting (Big 4 or national firm audit) and preferably also in-house SEC reporting at a publicly traded company — we are looking for someone who has sat on both sides
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting principles.
  • Hands-on experience preparing SEC filings (10-Q, 10-K, 8-K), including footnote drafting, tie-out, and XBRL tagging in Workiva; working knowledge of NetSuite or a comparable ERP
  • Familiarity with SOX and internal controls over financial reporting
  • Extremely organized, with the discipline to juggle competing close and filing deadlines without letting quality slip
  • A skillful communicator who works independently and is not afraid to work cross-functionally — communicating out PBC requests and holding team members accountable for delivering the support requested

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
