The Senior Scientist I – Bioinformatics will be a PhD-level computational biologist who will work as part of the drug discovery team to enhance the company pipeline of drugs to treat human diseases. The ideal candidate has multi-omics experience that can be leveraged to identify new targets, predictive biomarkers, and pharmacodynamic biomarkers. They have experience analyzing proteomics data corresponding to a treatment and mining functional genomics screening data.
This position will report to the Director of Bioinformatics and can be performed on-site in Lawrence, KS, Waltham, MA, or remotely within the US. This position will require quarterly travel to our research facility in Lawrence, KS.
What You’ll Do:
- Work as part of a collaborative team to apply innovative data analysis approaches
- Perform multi-omic analyses of publicly available data such as DepMap, TCGA, and GEO deposited datasets.
- Mine external and internal genomic screening data, such as CRISPR screens
- Working with Director of Bioinformatics, other R&D colleagues, and the New Targets Task Force to triage potential new targets.
- Working with R&D colleagues, draft manuscripts and presentations for external disclosure of Deciphera information involving preclinical biological data
- Stay up-to-date with relevant scientific literature and incorporate insights into research activities and new technologies and methods
- Effectively work in an interdisciplinary team environment: communicate and plan research with chemists, biologists, and pharmacologists also working on the project
- Adhere to corporate policies including safety, FDA compliance, and regulatory matters
What You’ll Bring:
- PhD and 4+ years of experience in bioinformatics, computational biology, genetics, or related field with a strong background in data science
- Experience performing multi-omic integration and analysis with an emphasis on analyzing proteomics data (required)
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and R (required)
- Familiarity with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, and/or Azure (required)
- Experience working with functional genomics data including CRISPR screening data (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of human genetics, molecular biology, as well as biological pathways and networks
- Experience working with cross functional discovery teams
- Proven track record in the analysis, visualization, and interpretation of genomics and/or functional genomics data
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to both expert and broad audiences
Deciphera is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary pay range for this role is $115,000 - $159,000. Actual compensation packages will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to depth of experience, education, skillset, overall performance and/or location.
