The role involves designing and testing radar and communication systems, working with technical teams, and solving customer challenges. It requires strong RF system knowledge and programming skills in C++ or MATLAB.
Essential Duties:
Contribute technical expertise and work within a focused team that designs, integrates and tests radar and communication systems. Work closely with scientists and engineers to develop specifications for radar and/or communication frontend and backend components and apertures.
Additional job functions include solving customer problems, writing invention disclosures, publishing papers, briefing customers, participating in proposal activities and assisting in marketing HRL expertise.
Required Skills:
Familiarity with radar and/or communication systems with an emphasis on one or more of the following: frontend and backend design, phased array systems, digital signal processing, and/or algorithms.
Experience with RF systems including operation, testing and analyzing collected data.
Use of system simulators such as Simulink, VSS, and Systemvue.
Proven track record of successful execution and delivery on previous RF systems programs.
Experience implementing system engineering principles and working with technical teams to ensure compliance with best practices.
Working knowledge of RF systems with an emphasis on commercial radar, military radar, cellular communication systems, SATCOM, and/or tactical communication systems is preferred.
Thorough understanding of system engineering principles is desired
Working familiarity of common passive and active microwave structures as well as antennas is desired
Ability to program algorithms in C++, MATLAB, or an equivalent is desired
Knowledge of module and subsystem operation/integration is a plus.
Familiarity with and experience programming FPGAs is a plus.
Applicant must be able to interact professionally with program managers, co-workers, and customers, as well as perform detailed analyses of radar systems and components, and prepare written and oral presentations.
Work independently as well as in a team of highly skilled engineers on complex projects, and willingness to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Required Education:
M.S. with minimum 5 years of experience, 10 years preferred
B.S. with a minimum 7 years of experience, 12 years preferred
Physical Requirements:
Must be willing to travel at times
Special Requirements:
U.S. citizenship is required. Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required.
Compensation:
The base salary range for this full-time position is $163,150 - $209,088 + bonus + benefits.
