At Netflix, our mission is to entertain the world. Together, we are writing the next episode - pushing the boundaries of storytelling, global fandom and making the unimaginable a reality. We are a dream team obsessed with the uncomfortable excitement of discovering what happens when you merge creativity, intuition and cutting-edge technology. Come be a part of what’s next.

We’re seeking a seasoned Research Program Manager with quantitative expertise to join our Custom Research Operations Pod—a centralized team within the Data & Insights organization. As part of a collaborative group of Research Program Managers, you’ll partner with Researchers, Analysts, and peers in Localization and Data Science & Engineering, as well as external vendors, to deliver impactful custom research at scale.

In this role, you’ll take a hands-on approach to quantitative research projects, actively driving each stage from inception to execution. In partnership with Researchers and a network of specialized vendors, you will contribute to project scoping, assessing feasibility, and developing robust project & sampling plans. You’ll dive into questionnaires to ensure quality, implement and refine messaging and sampling strategies to survey the right audiences, and apply rigorous data quality assurance measures. You’ll also ensure governance and compliance requirements are met, while proactively managing budgets and resources. Through these efforts, you’ll impact operational excellence in primary research, enabling our Consumer Insights practice to deliver extraordinary insights that inform Netflix’s global strategy and ability to learn from our Consumers.

Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with Researchers, Analysts and external vendors (e.g., survey programmers, panel providers) to ensure seamless quantitative project execution.

  • Work with peers to define realistic research objectives, assess feasibility, and create detailed project plans, timelines, and sampling strategies.

  • Review and optimize survey instruments for clarity, logic, and data quality; oversee testing and troubleshooting of survey links.

  • Develop and refine sampling plans to ensure target audience representation; oversee fieldwork progress, monitor response rates, and address any operational issues.

  • Implement rigorous data quality checks, monitor for fraud or bias, and ensure all research activities adhere to privacy, governance, and compliance standards.

  • Source, onboard, and manage external vendors; negotiate contracts and manage relationships to ensure high-quality, cost-effective deliverables.

  • Proactively manage project budgets and timelines, anticipating risks and solving problems to keep projects on track.

  • Identify opportunities to streamline research operations, improve efficiency, and introduce new tools or methodologies to elevate the impact of research.

  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation and provide regular updates to stakeholders on project status, risks, and outcomes.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years in program or project management, with focused experience in quantitative research operations or a related technical field, collaborating closely with researchers and/or vendors.

  • Professional experience with quantitative research tools, survey and programming platforms (e.g., Forsta), data visualization tools, and program management software (e.g., Airtable).

  • Foundational understanding of research quality principles, including sampling, panel health, data integrity, statistical concepts, research design, and data management.

  • Experience in project management methodologies, documentation frameworks, and research toolsets; adept at managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines in a dynamic environment.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and external partners.

  • Pragmatic problem solver with a passion for identifying areas of improvement, finding the right solutions, and driving innovation within research operations.

  • Demonstrated interest in leveraging AI, automation, and emerging technologies to make research operations more scalable, efficient, and intelligent.

  • Comfortable working across global time zones and adapting to the needs of diverse teams and partners.

  • Passion to dive into details and remain hands-on to ensure project success.

  • Ability to make sound, contextualized decisions independently, while knowing when to escalate issues or seek input.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
