This creative technologist will support building After Effects and Priemer Pro templetes and support multiple real-time graphic systems by developing templates, creating workflows that work in different newsroom configurations, managing the equipment so that it performs optimally and sharing knowledge to others on the team.
Actively and consistently supports all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
Create and troubleshoot real-time graphic template building and augmented reality graphics using multiple platforms.
Work with Art Directors and the technical creative team to integrate new graphics into insert packages, virtual set systems and augmented reality systems.
Display proficient technical skills across multiple platforms while adhering to high production standards.
Work across multiple teams and systems in order to create innovative graphics.
Works closely with sports and news Producers to provide graphics support for studio show content.
Collaborate with experienced Graphics Operators, Production Operations Management and Engineering to troubleshoot system issues and support all graphics machines, software, plugins and workflow.
Participate in discussions relating to data feeds and help develop and maintain workflows that impact graphic templates on all platforms.
Lead cross-functional integrations from a graphic perspective.
Contribute to the implementation of templates that are created by graphics operators as well as the design department.
Define graphics workflows for on-air.
Mentor and train other real-time graphic specialists on all platforms.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language
Ability to execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
Ability to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances and solve complex problems while demonstrating positive behavior
Ability to be flexible with shifting priorities, demands and timelines
Knowledge of template building in Chyron, VizRt, Zero Density and After Effect
Knowledge of and ability to create augmented reality graphics via Unreal/VizRt, Zero Density
Knowledge of SQL, XML and Microsoft Excel databases
Knowledge of data integration
Knowledge of television production equipment and studio procedures
Knowledge of Photoshop, After Effects, CAMIO, VitRt, Zero Density workflows
Understanding of design and animation techniques on multiple platforms
Understanding of Microsoft Excel integration with technical platforms
Understanding of technical workflows
Effective written and verbal communication skills, ability to effectively convey requests and ideas to editors, graphic and audio designers, talent, etc
Experience with scripting, Javascript, visual basics, XML , JSON and XPRESSO
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Advanced knowledge of template building using expressions and scripts within After Effects
Attention to detail and ability to train others on multiple technical platforms
Fluency in the language of on-air show packaging and insert graphic elements
Team-oriented and highly collaborative with a strong desire to increase production value and openness to new ideas and ways of improving
Demonstrates continuous self-development to support team goals
Required Education
Bachelor's Degree in Graphics Design or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Related Work Experience and Number of Years
Experience with graphics system in news or sports - 5+
Working experience in a control room to support various type of productions as well as knowledge of news, sports and remote productions
Preferred Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
HTML5 knowledge is a plus
Extensive expression and template building and After Effects
Familiarity working with Dalet production workflow is a plus
Working Conditions
Office environment
May involve phone or physical presence at the facility for equipment failure or other issues that may arise. This includes but is not limited to severe weather emergencies
Must be able and willing to work various shifts, longer shifts, weekends and holidays, and be flexible with schedule changes due to "breaking news," and/or severe weather emergencies
Travel: 15% where applicable
