For nearly 30 years, SQA Services has been a leading provider of managed supplier quality services, offering audits, assessments, remote surveillance, corrective actions, remediation, inspections, and engineering solutions to manufacturers across all industries. We deliver these services by deploying a network of highly skilled associates based throughout the United States and in over 90 countries worldwide, ensuring rapid on-site support at your supplier locations. Our associates are expert quality assurance professionals with extensive experience and local expertise, enabling us to represent our clients on demand and with greater speed and efficiency than our competitors

We are seeking a Senior Quality Assessor with specialized expertise in printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) to evaluate and ensure the quality of suppliers' manufacturing processes and products. This role is specifically focused on the assessment of PCBA manufacturing processes. The Senior Quality Assessor will not be conducting general Quality Management System (QMS) audits but will instead focus on ensuring the quality, reliability, and compliance of the supplier's manufacturing capabilities.

This is an ongoing, as-needed assessment role requiring a one-day commitment. If necessary, we can arrange travel for out-of-state assignments, with all expenses covered. A flat one-day rate will be paid for each assessment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed quality assessments of PCBA manufacturing processes at suppliers' facilities
  • Evaluate the potential failure mechanisms specific to harnesses and PCBA components and ensure alignment with industry standards
  • Assess the supplier’s manufacturing processes, quality management systems, and adherence to regulatory requirements
  • Review and validate supplier documentation, including process flow diagrams, control plans, and quality reports
  • Work closely with suppliers to identify areas for improvement and recommend corrective actions where necessary
  • Perform in-depth technical analysis and failure mode evaluations for PCBA assemblies
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards such as IPC-A-610 (for PCBA), ISO 9001, and other applicable regulations
  • Provide orientation and training to junior assessors or associates, ensuring adherence to best practices and consistent assessment procedures
  • Liaise with suppliers to facilitate introductions, program orientation, and non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) as required
  • Review assessment reports for consistency and alignment with client guidelines, ensuring thoroughness and clarity

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Senior Quality Assessor with a focus on PCBA manufacturing
  • Strong understanding of industry standards, including IPC-A-610, IPC-2221, ISO 9001, and others relevant to PCBA processes
  • Expertise in evaluating and analyzing manufacturing processes, failure modes, and potential risks in PCBA production
  • Familiarity with tools and methods for assessing product quality and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to recommend and implement corrective actions
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with suppliers, clients, and internal teams
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to thoroughly review reports and documentation for accuracy and compliance
  • Due to the nature of the products, U.S. citizenship is also a requirement, and background checks are required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) manufacturing and inspection
  • Certified to IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 standards
  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering or a related discipline
  • Skilled in utilizing NADCAP tools for conducting quality assessments and evaluating special process compliance

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
