The Monad Foundation is a team of dedicated ecosystem and community builders who are on a mission to massively grow the impact of decentralized tech. We believe that the Monad blockchain--the performant and parallel EVM Layer 1--will help decentralized apps eat the world.
The RoleMonad is pushing the limits of the EVM with new software architecture, enabling ultra-high performance on a decentralized L1. The Engineering team at the Monad Foundation builds software that maximizes the impact of these improvements, accelerating the adoption of Monad by developers and users alike.
As Senior Protocol Engineer, you’ll build smart contracts and systems for a high-performance EVM environment. You will contribute to architecture design, smart contract development, security reviews, and future protocol improvements.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in smart contract engineering and security, and wants to work in a scrappy, fast-paced team.
You will design and build high-impact systems that support ecosystem-wide initiatives or common user flows. For example, you might build smart contracts for implementing a timelock system, or systems for dispensing gas under certain conditions, or an interface for allowing users to manage their staked positions.
You will collaborate with other members of the team, contributing to design reviews, critiquing architecture and security practices, and generally raising the bar of the team’s outputs
You will contribute to Monad Improvement Proposals, for example in the realm of VM functionality, resource pricing, UX, AA, MEV-resistance, privacy, etc.
You will interact with external developers working on apps, bridges, wallets, RPC infrastructure, exchanges, security tools, to evaluate how their products should correctly interact with unique aspects of Monad’s blockchain such as asynchronous execution.
You love building resilient and secure systems
You are passionate about the growth of decentralized apps
You have previous experience building significant decentralized apps or blockchain infrastructure
You have extensive knowledge of Solidity, the EVM, and related tooling (Foundry, wagmi/viem, etc) and libraries (Solady etc)
Challenging problems. You’ll work on extremely challenging problems with massive impact.
Huge opportunity. The Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) standard is ubiquitous, but existing EVM-compatible chains are slow and bandwidth-constrained. Monad’s core innovations offer developers the best of both worlds (portability and performance) and are a game-changer for mass user adoption in crypto.
The right team. You’ll be part of an exceptional and highly-motivated team
Culture. We’re a lean team working together to achieve very ambitious goals. We are united in our culture of collaboration, low ego, and high-quality output. As an early member of our team, you’ll help continue to shape our culture.
Benefits for full-time employees may include medical, dental, and vision insurance (100% coverage for employees); generous paid time off; paid parental leave; and 10 company-observed holidays.
