The Maneuver Dominance team at Anduril develops operationally relevant, multi-asset autonomy. We are focused on making large groups of autonomous systems work effectively together, with a particular emphasis on larger, more capable unmanned aerial vehicles. Here you will work on new aircraft development for unmanned rotorcraft and complex systems, including but not limited to propulsion systems, avionics, batteries, mechanisms, structures, sensors and payloads.
ABOUT THE JOBWe are looking for a Senior Propulsion Performance Engineer to enhance our Maneuver Dominance team. This role is critical in developing and optimizing advanced propulsion systems to meet our aggressive and innovative goals. You will be responsible for the detailed design, system architecture, and integration of a custom propulsion unit into a new and bespoke aircraft.
WHAT YOU’LL DO- Own detailed design of individual engine components from conceptual phase into production.
- Drive prototype testing and design of experiments to optimize designs prior to release.
- Design with a heavy focus for manufacturing and assembly at production rates.
- Own architectural layouts and design trade studies for future products.
- Lead and participate in continuous improvement activities, including process improvement, efficiency improvement and development of data analysis techniques.
- Execute and operate various test campaigns to inform iterative design decisions.
- Manage and collaborate with critical vendor partners.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
- A minimum of 5 years (non-internship) of experience in transient modeling/simulation of gas turbine engines
- Proven expertise in clean sheet design engineering
- Exposure to testing of various propulsion systems
- Deep understanding of reciprocating engine controls, thermals, & mechanical dynamics
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
- Experience with air-breathing propulsion systems
- Experience conducting engine stability assessments or audits (SAE AIR 5656)
- Professional experience using Siemens NX (Unigraphics) or other CAD packages
- Experience in evaluating or analyzing component “End of Life” via testing
- Experience with reciprocating thermodynamics and kinematics
- Experience with engine test cell operations, controls, and fault diagnostics
- Professional experience developing engine exhaust, intake, fuel and lubrication systems
The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only.
