SUMMARY
This role will be part of a fast pace - high performing team tasked with tackling the challenges in designing, building, and setting-up operations for MARA’s data center facilities and major infrastructure improvement projects to optimize utilization of space, power, and cooling within operational data centers around the globe. Responsibilities encompass various aspects of planning, execution, vendor management and coordination to ensure that infrastructure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and according to defined parameters.
Hired individual will work closely with the head of site development and will play a critical role in feasibility, front end planning followed by overseeing and managing datacenter projects from pre-construction stage to commissioning.
A mid-to-senior-level experienced candidate with a zeal to learn is an ideal fit for this role. This role will start as a 6-month contracting role and have opportunities to extend or convert to a full time MARA employee depending on performance and business need.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of assigned projects, along with ensuring consistency with company strategy and goals.
- Review scope of work, deliverables and progress of all disciplines including civil/structural, electrical, mechanical, and network controls.
- Identify areas for improvement based on fundamental understanding of above systems, cost benefit analysis and historical data provided by other teams.
- Supervise sub-contractor’s activities and review progress associated with respective billings, ensuring adherence to project plans and quality standards.
- Lead and manage procurement of major long lead equipment and sub-contractors’ services, including evaluations, selection, negotiations, contracts, and logistics.
- Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical and mechanical systems, and troubleshoot any issues that arise during the project lifecycle.
- Monitor project progress, identify deviations from the plan, and implement corrective actions as necessary to ensure set goals are met.
- Prepare and present reports with project updates and financial analyses for senior management.
- Support business opportunities for MARA in the region.
- Establish effective collaboration with stakeholders across the multiple continents.
- Stay current on the latest crypto and cooling technologies and mining optimizations.
- Travel 30-40% of the time to Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Bachelor’s degree in the field of engineering or construction. Electrical engineering background is highly desired.
- 6-8 years of project management experience with experience in successfully managing engineering and construction projects from conception to completion.
- Highly proficient in both English and French languages.
- Knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals and construction principles.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to effectively collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong leadership qualities, including the ability to motivate and inspire team members to achieve project objectives.
- Basic understanding of Bitcoin mining hardware, power distribution, and cooling systems.
- Familiarity with applications such as Microsoft Office (including Outlook, Project, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
- Ability to obtain (if not already) Prince 2 or PMP certification.
