The Boeing Safety, Security & Airworthiness (SS&A) organization is looking for a Senior (Level 4 or Level 5) Project Engineer to join the Aviation Safety Team within Enterprise Safety and Mission Assurance. This position is based in Seal Beach, CA.

As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for working cross-functionally across development and operation phases of the product lifecycle. We are looking for innovative, enthusiastic, and highly collaborative individuals with unlimited curiosity and a passion for diving into details. Our objectives are achieved through independent research, teamwork, creative thinking, and meticulous attention to detail.

A successful candidate will have a strong engineering background and familiarity with project management in the aviation industry. They will excel at collaborating cross functionally. They will play a key role in supporting the continued safe operation of today’s commercial fleet and in developing the next generation of commercial aircraft.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Provides the Engineering leadership to a team representing multiple skill areas, which may include internal and external resources and customers.
  • Develops statement of work (SOW) to satisfy research and development, ongoing and new business requirements.
  • Works with customers and management to obtain approval.
  • Responds to changes to SOW, assesses the impact and negotiates proposed changes to determine modifications to the deliverables, resources, costs and schedules.
  • Leads project execution to complete the work statement.
  • Identifies performance metrics.
  • Plans, identifies, and coordinates resources required over the life of the project or program.
  • Defines plans for risk mitigation and opportunity.
  • Compares actual results to baseline plan to assess project performance, efficiencies, productivity and lessons learned.
  • Provides technical, business and integration leadership for the development and execution of project or team plans.
  • Works under minimal direction.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • Level 4: 9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Level 5: 14+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 9+ years of experience performing complex engineering or system integration work
  • 9+ years of experience in leading and/or managing complex projects
  • 9+ years of experience developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with senior executives, customers, stakeholders, peers and business partners

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience):

  • Experience in System Safety or Software Safety
  • 10+ years of experience with Transport, Boeing 7-Series and/or McDonnell Douglas Aircraft
  • 7+ years of experience with US and/or foreign aircraft certification/regulatory processes
  • Good communication skills and a self-starter that takes initiatives without supervision
  • Project Management exposure / experience (e.g., Project Management Body of Knowledge [PMBOK], ANSI/PMI 99-001-2008)
  • Ability to quickly analyze, understand, organize and communicate complex technical concepts/problems across multiple disciplines
  • Experience with leading major design changes through multiple phases of product and certification lifecycle
  • Ability to work out of comfort zone, where process definition does not exist or is unclear. Take ownership/initiative, pull teams together, establish battle rhythm and remove roadblocks

Summary Pay Range:

  • Senior (Level 4): $138,550 - $187,450
  • Senior (Level 5): $165,750 - $224,250
