Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented and experienced Senior Project Architect to join our Buildings + Places business line in Houston or Dallas Texas. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead design efforts, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and deliver innovative solutions for a diverse range of projects, including commercial, industrial, and municipal sectors.

The ideal Project Architect IV candidate will bring a strong architectural background, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for creating impactful spaces. This position requires a proven ability to manage complex projects, mentor junior staff, and ensure design excellence throughout all project phases.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Design Leadership: Spearhead the design process for projects across commercial, industrial, logistics, and interiors sectors, ensuring innovative and client-focused solutions.

  • Project Coordination: Oversee all phases of project delivery, from conceptual design to construction administration, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, consultants, and other stakeholders, to integrate architectural and technical solutions.

  • Client Engagement: Build and maintain strong client relationships, serving as the primary point of contact for project-related communications.

  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior architects and design staff, fostering a culture of collaboration and professional growth.

  • Technical Expertise: Ensure compliance with building codes, zoning regulations, and sustainability standards, while maintaining a high level of technical accuracy in project documentation.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Architecture from an NAAB-accredited professional undergraduate degree.

  • 6+ years of professional experience in architectural design and project management or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Licensed Architect in the state of Texas.

  • Proficiency in design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, and SketchUp, as well as visualization tools like Enscape or Lumion.

  • Strong understanding of building codes, construction methods, and sustainability practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  •  Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited program.

  • 8+ years of professional experience in architectural design and project management or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Strong design portfolio showcasing innovative and impactful architectural designs and proven experience in spearheading design for projects.
  • Experience in municipal, commercial, and industrial projects, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality designs.

  • Experience in leading client facing presentations, including programming, space planning, and conceptual design.

  • LEED Accreditation or equivalent sustainability certification is a plus.
