Role Summary
Extreme Networks is seeking a Senior Product Marketing Manager with a focus on competitive analysis, sales enablement, sales play development and technical marketing content creation. This role will specialize in analyzing competitor strategies and offerings across our enterprise networking portfolio — Wired, Wireless, Data Center Fabric, SD-WAN, and emerging areas such as AI-powered and cloud-based networking.
As a core member of Extreme’s product marketing team, you will translate competitive insights into actionable strategies, repeatable sales plays, and enablement content. You will collaborate closely with Sales, Product Marketing, and Product Management to ensure Extreme’s unique advantages are clear, compelling, and consistently reinforced in the field. This position requires strong technical understanding, strategic thinking, and the ability to simplify complex concepts into persuasive narratives that help Extreme Networks compete and win.

Key Responsibilities:

Competitive Analysis
·       Lead deep-dive research into competitor technologies, including hardware, software, and services.
·       Assess competitor messaging, positioning, pricing, partner programs, and go-to-market strategies.
·       Build and maintain competitive profiles, battlecards, and intelligence dashboards for Extreme’s internal teams.
·       Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies (e.g., AI-powered networking, automation, security, cloud, etc.) to anticipate competitive shifts.
·       Provide insights to inform Extreme’s product management and technical marketing strategies, ensuring alignment with market needs.

Sales Play Development
·       Collaborate with Sales, Technical Marketing, and Product Management to design structured sales plays that guide prospects through the buying cycle.
·       Craft differentiated narratives and positioning that clearly communicate Extreme’s competitive advantages.
·       Deliver enablement content including pitch decks, objection-handling guides, win wires, and training materials.
·       Define engagement models (activities, touchpoints, talk tracks) to standardize and scale sales motions.
·       Ensure sales plays support Extreme’s global go-to-market priorities and product marketing goals.

Sales Enablement & Communication
·       Train and empower Extreme’s global sales teams to confidently use competitive insights and execute sales plays.
·       Serve as a subject matter expert on competitor activity and differentiation during key deals, customer engagements, and analyst interactions.
·       Partner with sales leadership to measure adoption, collect feedback, and refine content.
·       Establish communication frameworks that make competitive intelligence timely, actionable, and accessible across regions and functions.

Qualifications
·       Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Engineering, Technical Marketing, Product Management, or related field (MBA preferred but not required).
·       5+ years of experience in product marketing, competitive intelligence, or market research; enterprise networking industry experience strongly preferred.
·       Strong understanding of enterprise networking technologies (wired/wireless, data center, SD-WAN, cloud networking, AI-powered network management and operations).
·       Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to turn technical depth into compelling, customer-facing stories.
·       Demonstrated success in developing competitive assets, sales enablement content, and conducting sales training.
·       Analytical, data-driven mindset with proven ability to influence product, marketing, and GTM decisions.
·       Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Product Marketing, and Product Management.
·       Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
