Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Product Manager to lead retention, engagement, and monetization for ABCmouse’s consumer experience. This role owns the systems that drive long-term customer value—from onboarding and activation through habit formation, subscription, and lifecycle management.

You will be responsible for improving key business outcomes including retention, conversion, and lifetime value by building intuitive, high-impact product experiences for both children and parents. This includes optimizing onboarding, content discovery, engagement loops, and monetization surfaces such as subscriptions and in-app purchases.

This is a highly cross-functional role requiring strong product judgment, experimentation rigor, and the ability to operate in a fast-moving, data-driven environment. You will partner closely with design, engineering, data science, and marketing to identify opportunities, run experiments, and deliver measurable impact.

Responsibilities:

    Own Growth Outcomes

    • Own and drive key metrics including D1/D7 retention, D30 subscription rate, engagement (activities per user), ARPU, and LTV.

    • Identify the highest-impact opportunities across the user lifecycle and prioritize ruthlessly.

    Lead Retention & Engagement Systems

    • Design and optimize core product loops that drive repeat usage and habit formation (e.g., learning paths, rewards, progression systems).

    • Improve early user experience (first session, first week) to increase activation and reduce churn.

    • Partner with content and design teams to ensure experiences are engaging, intuitive, and age-appropriate.

    Drive Monetization Strategy

    • Own subscription and IAP experiences, including paywalls, pricing, packaging, and offer strategy.

    • Optimize conversion surfaces across onboarding, in-product prompts, and lifecycle moments.

    • Balance monetization with long-term retention and learning outcomes.

    Build and Scale Experimentation

    • Define and execute a robust A/B testing roadmap across onboarding, engagement, and monetization.

    • Use data, user research, and experimentation to validate hypotheses and continuously improve performance.

    • Establish clear success metrics, guardrails, and decision frameworks.

    Improve End-to-End User Journeys

    • Identify friction across the funnel (e.g., onboarding drop-off, content discovery, payment failures).

    • Simplify and streamline the experience across devices and user types (parent vs. child).

    • Partner with platform teams to ensure reliability of account, authentication, and entitlement systems.

    Collaborate Cross-Functionally

    • Work closely with Engineering, Design, Art, UX, Data Analytics, Marketing, and Finance to deliver high-impact initiatives.

    • Align stakeholders on strategy, trade-offs, and priorities.

    • Communicate clearly with leadership on progress, risks, and results.

Minimum Qualifications:

    • 5+ years of product management experience in consumer digital products (mobile or web).

    • Proven track record of driving measurable impact on growth metrics such as retention, engagement, or monetization.

    • Strong analytical skills with experience using data to inform decisions and evaluate experiments.

    • Experience running A/B tests and building experimentation roadmaps.

    • Ability to define product strategy and execute in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.

    • Strong cross-functional leadership skills, with the ability to influence without authority.

    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly.

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience in subscription-based or free-to-play (F2P) products with a focus on conversion and retention.

    • Background in mobile games, edtech, or consumer apps with engagement loops and virtual economies.

    • Experience optimizing onboarding, activation funnels, or lifecycle journeys.

    • Familiarity with pricing, packaging, and monetization strategy (subscriptions and/or IAP).

    • Experience working with dual-user systems (e.g., parent/child, buyer/user).

    • Knowledge of payment systems, subscription lifecycle management, or account platforms (helpful but not core).

    • Experience working with personalization, recommendation systems, or content discovery.

    • MBA or advanced degree in a relevant field.

Total Compensation:
The estimated salary range for a new hire in this position is $170,000 USD to $195,000 USD. Salary may vary depending on job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

Age of Learning currently provides:

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
