Are you looking for a role in a company that's solving one of the greatest challenges of our lifetime? Ophelia helps people end their opioid use and restore their quality of life with respect for their time and dignity. Our mission is to make evidence-based treatments for opioid use disorder (OUD) accessible to everyone... and we're looking to bring more people onto our team to help us achieve it.

Ophelia is a venture-backed, healthcare startup that helps individuals with OUD by providing FDA-approved medication and clinical care through a telehealth platform. Our approach is discreet, convenient, and affordable. We've been successfully operating in 14 states for almost six years and we're excited to continue our growth. We are a team of physicians, scientists, entrepreneurs, researchers and White House advisors, backed by leading technology and healthcare investors working to re-imagine and re-build OUD treatment in America.
About The Role

As a Senior Product Manager, you will create industry-leading digital products that prove telehealth to be the best way to treat opioid use disorder! You will be shaping our product strategy, aligning stakeholders, and shipping valuable digital products. You will be a leader on one of our product teams and will work cross-functionally with patients, clinicians, operators, marketers, billers, and more (this role is perfect if you want to fully immerse in technology-enabled, healthcare services). Together, you will facilitate collaboration among these stakeholders to identify problems and explore solutions in an iterative way. You will work across the business to solicit great product concepts, collaborate with engineering, product design, and other areas, prioritize work, and communicate effectively to ensure timely and reliable delivery of projects. Ultimately, you will ensure a delightful and people-centered user experience, compliant with industry standards, that meets customer needs and achieves Ophelia’s goals.

To date, we have built a portfolio of bespoke patient and clinical applications, bespoke billing and clinical data services, and commercial integrations, all of which have been core to achieving our goals. Looking forward, our technology roadmap is rich with innovative opportunities across paid-digital, B2B, and peer-led growth, new clinical services, applications of AI for clinicians and Care Coordinators, and a whole lot more. Together, we will build awesome products while we embark towards profitability, our next milestone.

Our Technology team today is small but mighty and works in close collaboration across software engineering, product design, and data. We use an agile approach rooted in the principles of the Agile Manifesto, with a robust design system well integrated across our team and products. Our product suite includes a custom-built EMR platform for our clinical organization and a patient portal, alongside numerous interaction modes (including text messaging, video conferencing, and third-party software) in our complete product system.

In this fully remote role, you will report to our Chief Technology Officer and be a peer to a Principal Product Manager. Together, we’ll help hard-to-reach people treat their opioid dependence. You may not have experience in this treatment area, but ideally, you’ll have knowledge of the healthcare space, including understanding health outcomes and benchmarks, systems, and regulatory compliance (HIPAA).

Responsibilities:

  • Own, develop, and implement a digital product strategy for your squad, co-leading a product team along with engineering and product design to deliver value and learn from experiments; we use a triadic leadership model. Translate business goals into product strategy and track associated metrics to determine success.
  • Develop strong relationships with stakeholders ranging from executives to individual contributors.
  • Study and share outcomes and learnings. Push forward with experiments and use appropriate statistical rigor.
  • Work across the business to solicit great product concepts, collaborate with engineering, product design, and other areas, prioritize work, and communicate around the work. Ensure timely and reliable delivery of those projects.
  • Champion and develop the product roadmap, capturing high level concepts and improvements into the future. Share it broadly.
  • Ensure people-centered focus through excellent user experience to meet customer needs through user research, feedback, data, and continuous improvement.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive innovation and excellence in our digital products. Network frequently beyond Ophelia and share learnings with the team.

Skills & Competencies:

  • 4+ years experience in product management; with a track record of successfully driving stellar business outcomes based on digital product engagement. Demonstrate strong business acumen and strategic thinking to lead product development and grow the business, keep track of key metrics and KPIs, and rigorously prioritize and align the team's work with the company’s wider strategic goals.
  • Stellar communications and stakeholder management with a passion for aligning all participants; able to create strong points of view to achieve Ophelia’s strategy, backed with data.
  • Impact orientation with focus on delivering outcomes over outputs, choosing to work in a thoughtful, iterative way. You capture learnings, share them broadly, and apply them to future decisions.
  • Deep understanding of experiment design and relevant tools and methods associated with learning through trials, including hypothesis development, statistics, and analysis
  • Familiarity with technical concepts and platforms used in full stack web applications with ability to engage productively with engineering and data teams on high-level technical plans, appropriately balance technical sustainability efforts with product work, and handle basic technical questions from users.
  • Robust practitioner of agile manifesto including shipping valuable features, focus on live, deep collaboration, highly people-centric, iteration on features and behaviors. Show a love to ship tightly scoped, early iterations, seeking to learn quickly.
  • Culture builder with the habit of engendering high psychological safety amongst the team. You are excited about influencing priorities and adapting to new challenges.
  • Passionate about our mission to make evidence-based addiction treatment universally accessible. Any experience in healthcare or telehealth is a nice plus!

Our Benefits Include:

  • Remote work anywhere in the United States
  • Competitive medical, vision, and health insurance (many plans are fully covered for the employee!)
  • 20 days of PTO per year

Ophelia Compensation Overview
  • We set compensation based on the level and skills required for the role. We value pay transparency and equity, and are committed to fair pay. In order to prevent pay disparities and reduce time spent in negotiations, we take a “first and best” offer approach: this means we’re not holding any compensation back from our candidates, and you can feel confident that our pay is fair and does not vary based on the strength of someone’s negotiation skills.
  • Compensation is dynamic at Ophelia: as long as the company performs well and meets our targets, there will be opportunities for increased compensation annually. We’re happy to discuss this approach and our bands if you have questions during the interview process.
Compensation Range
$170,000$180,000 USD

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
