Description

VAST Data is looking to add a Senior Product Manager to our growing team!

This is a great opportunity to be part of one of the fastest-growing infrastructure companies in history, an organization that is in the center of the hurricane being created by the revolution in artificial intelligence.

"VAST's data management vision is the future of the market." - Forbes

VAST Data is the data platform company for the AI era. We are building the enterprise software infrastructure to capture, catalog, refine, enrich, and protect massive datasets and make them available for real-time data analysis and AI training and inference. Designed from the ground up to make AI simple to deploy and manage, VAST takes the cost and complexity out of deploying enterprise and AI infrastructure across data center, edge, and cloud.

Our success has been built through intense innovation, a customer-first mentality and a team of fearless VASTronauts who leverage their skills & experiences to make real market impact. This is an opportunity to be a key contributor at a pivotal time in our company’s growth and at a pivotal point in computing history.

THE ROLE:

VAST Data is seeking an experienced Product Manager to help shape the strategy, roadmap, and product management discipline for the VAST AI OS. This role goes beyond feature delivery - it’s about establishing scalable product practices that can guide VAST through its next phase of growth.

We’re looking for someone who has worked in both startup and large-enterprise environments, and can bring the agility of small teams together with the structure and rigor needed to operate at scale. This means building processes like OKRs, feedback loops, and prioritization frameworks that align engineering, sales, marketing, and support around a common vision.

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical foundation in large-scale distributed systems, and a proven ability to translate complex architectures into customer-centric strategies. You’ll be responsible for building scalable product management processes, enabling faster decision-making, clearer alignment, and stronger execution across the company.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drive the definition, strategy, and roadmap for core components of the VAST AI OS, and establish and scale product management practices that enable high alignment, fast iteration, and cross-functional clarity.
  • Partner closely with engineering, dev architects, sales, marketing, and support to bring visionary product capabilities to market.
  • Balance technical depth with business understanding to influence roadmap priorities and trade-offs.
  • Champion the voice of the customer, ensuring we solve the right problems for enterprises navigating the data explosion across on-prem and cloud environments.
  • This is an ideal role for someone who has lived through (and helped lead) the transition from early-stage to scalable product cycles, and is eager to repeat and improve the process in a company building the future of data platforms.

Requirements
  • Proven product management experience in both small, fast-paced companies and larger enterprises.
  • Prior experience in establishing frameworks for prioritization, goal-setting (OKRs), and customer/market feedback loops.
  • Excellent communicator and collaborator, with a passion for cross-functional alignment and clarity.
  • Technical background in distributed systems, storage, or data platforms.
  • Track record of building scalable product management processes and cross-functional alignment.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to bridge technical and business needs.
  • Passion for building methodology, not just products - helping to shape how VAST grows.
  • Customer-obsessed, with the curiosity to dig into complex enterprise use cases and distill them into clear, executable priorities.
  • Bonus: background in data warehousing, query engines, and data integration pipelines.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
