What We Do

Roo (www.roo.vet) has created the first B2B labor marketplace in animal healthcare that connects veterinary professionals with hospitals through innovative technology, with opportunities to expand and offer more opportunities for both our demand & supply of users.

Our dynamic platform enables hospitals to fulfill personnel needs in real time, while allowing high-quality veterinary professionals to secure work at the click of a button.  Beyond the platform, Roo represents a growing opportunity to help hospitals meet all-things staffing, and a growing community of resilient vet industry professionals who value flexibility and work-life balance, in addition to providing the best possible outcomes for clients and their pets.

Our aim is to combine experienced healthcare expertise with Silicon Valley talent to shake up this industry and change the way veterinarians and hospitals work!
About the Role

As a Senior Product Manager at Roo, you’ll lead a squad focused on driving impact across our labor marketplace, driving impact on both sides. You’ll own the strategy and execution of major product areas, working closely with engineering, design, analytics, and leadership to scale our business and deliver value to our users. This is a high-impact role where you’ll have the opportunity to work on zero-to-one problems, scale existing products, and shape the future of Roo’s product portfolio.

Your north-star metrics will directly tie to the “Roo Equation”, the equation that defines our business model, so you’ll always know you’re having an impact. You and your team will operate with significant autonomy as you take a growth-minded, iterative approach to learning, moving fast, and ultimately driving a measurable outcome by building levers for our customers and internal users.

This role reports directly to the VP of Product and while the role will operate on a remote basis, you may be required to occasionally be onsite in our San Francisco coworking space for meetings and team events.

Your Responsibilities
  • Unite your team behind a strategy to tackle your initiative goals.
  • Own and execute the roadmap for one of Roo’s core product areas (e.g., provider experience, hospitals, enterprise)
  • Lead the product process and maintain a rolling roadmap with emphasis on always finding the best project to drive maximum impact toward your north star metric.
  • Adopt an experimentation mindset, finding ways to quickly test and iterate on your hypothesis
  • Devise creative product solutions to the core problems facing your team.
  • Ensure that the projects delivered are improvements to the user experience.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, design, operations, support, marketing) to define and ship high-quality solutions.
  • Use data and research to deeply understand user needs, pain points, and opportunities
  • Proactively identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies in funnel metrics and propose scalable solutions.
  • Partner closely with the VP of Product to influence company-wide product strategy and culture.
Qualifications
  • 6+ years of operating as a product manager. Ideally with 2+ years in a marketplace or B2B2C environment.
  • Strong user empathy and customer-first mindset—you're energized by solving real problems for real people.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; you know how to bring cross-functional teams together and keep everyone aligned.
  • Experience using data (quantitative and qualitative) to inform product decisions.
  • Comfortable in ambiguity, with a bias toward action and a track record of shipping impactful features.
  • Natural leadership. You know how to influence people to get things done across any job function. People love working with you.
  • Ability to think big and small to build a portfolio of experiments and larger features. You are as comfortable whiteboarding a completely new experience as you are optimizing an existing flow and know when to do which.
  • Prioritize UX. You think deeply about how the product fits into the life of the customer and can prototype solutions as a method of communicating your ideas for improvement.
  • Bonus: Experience in labor marketplaces, healthcare tech, or scaling products at an early-stage startup.
While we are a remote first company, if you are based in San Francisco this will be a hybrid role.  Please see below for examples of compensation ranges based on state averages.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
