Who We Are
At Certn, we’re revolutionizing background screening with The World’s Easiest Background Check—fast, global, and powered by tech. We’re not about outdated processes and red tape. We’re about innovation, speed, and impact. If you’re looking for a place where ownership, collaboration, and creativity thrive, this is it.
The Role:

We’re on the lookout for a Senior Product Manager to shape Certn’s product strategy and roadmap on a global scale. You’ll lead product development from concept through launch—leveraging market research, competitive analysis, and customer insights to inform decisions. With a strong external focus, you’ll engage customers and stakeholders worldwide to refine our strategic direction, drive innovation, and ensure our product delivers unparalleled value in the background-screening space.

What You'll be Doing:

  • Product Strategy & Planning: Develop and execute product roadmaps aligned with market trends and business goals. Define and prioritize user stories, requirements, and use cases to solve customer pain points. Conduct deep market research and competitive analysis to inform product direction.

  • Product Development: Drive the end-to-end product lifecycle—from specification to launch. Collaborate closely with engineering to ensure features are built to spec. Partner with marketing and sales to create collateral, enablement materials, and go-to-market strategies.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Mentorship: Partner with engineering, design, marketing, sales, and customer success to align on priorities and dependencies. Provide mentorship to junior product team members, fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture.

  • Support Build Processes: Write crisp user stories and acceptance criteria, participate in sprint planning/reviews, and guide buy/build/partner decisions with high-level tech assessments. Monitor delivery progress and communicate delays or dependencies proactively.

  • Product Performance & Profitability Analysis: Define and track KPIs, ROI models, and cost-of-delay analyses to evaluate feature success. Collaborate with the BI team to analyze usage data and translate insights into product enhancements.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Product Leadership: Proven track record of launching software products—preferably B2B or enterprise-level SaaS—in a fast-paced, global environment.

  • Data-Driven Decision Maker: Strong analytical skills; comfortable working with metrics, running experiments, and using data to drive roadmap decisions.

  • Communication & Collaboration: Exceptional ability to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (engineering, design, marketing, sales, and customer success) and articulate vision across all levels.

  • Agile & Tools Savvy: Experience with Agile or Scrum methodologies and product-management tools such as Jira, Asana, or Trello.

  • Market Research Expertise: Skilled at conducting market research, competitive analysis, and customer interviews to uncover market opportunities and pain points.

  • Go-to-Market Acumen: Demonstrated experience influencing pricing, positioning, and messaging for successful product launches.

Why You Should Be Excited:

  • Vacation Mode On: 4 weeks of paid vacation + additional health & wellness time off.

  • Health and Benefits: Comprehensive Package for you and your dependents.

  • Flex Life: Fully remote setup with a home-office allowance and flex stipend.

  • Growth Fuel: Budget to attend industry conferences, pursue certifications, or take advanced courses.

  • Impact & Ownership: Own critical system components that directly affect customer experience and platform stability.

  • Team Energy: Collaborate with passionate engineers who value craftsmanship, continuous improvement, and collective success.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
