The Opportunity

We're looking for a Senior Product Manager to lead Prospect by Buildout, our data and prospecting solution for commercial real estate brokers. In this role, you'll drive product strategy and execution for this digital-first offering, working as part of a product trio with our design and development teams.

As a senior member of the product team, you'll have significant autonomy to shape the future of Prospect while advancing three key strategic initiatives:

Product-Led Growth: You'll lead our efforts to accelerate revenue growth through digital acquisition and conversion. This includes optimizing the entire customer journey—from trial signup to activation, engagement, and expansion—creating frictionless experiences that allow customers to discover value quickly and independently. You'll use data-driven insights to continually refine this journey, implementing strategies that increase conversion, reduce time-to-value, and drive bottom-line results.

Recurring Value Creation: You'll develop innovative approaches to demonstrate ongoing value in our data product. By making data more dynamic, timely, and actionable, you'll give customers compelling reasons to maintain their subscriptions. This includes leveraging AI and LLMs to source real-time data, connect disparate information sources, and create intelligent workflows that help brokers effectively utilize the data in their daily work.

Portfolio Integration: You'll develop and execute our strategy for tighter integration between Prospect and other Buildout products, creating a cohesive ecosystem that enhances overall customer value. By identifying and building compelling cross-product workflows, you'll help increase retention, drive deeper platform adoption, and create natural pathways for customers to expand their Buildout footprint.

Your work will directly impact how brokers discover and pursue opportunities while contributing significantly to our company-wide growth and retention objectives.

How You'll Contribute at Buildout
  • Own the product vision and strategy for Prospect by Buildout, translating business goals and customer needs into a compelling roadmap

  • Design and optimize the end-to-end product-led growth journey, from trial acquisition to activation, retention, and expansion

  • Develop innovative features that create recurring value, like AI-powered data enrichment or automated prospecting workflows

  • Create or enhance cross-product integrations that drive cross-sell and retention across the Buildout portfolio

  • Lead the product development process from discovery through delivery, collaborating closely with engineering and design

  • Establish and monitor key metrics across the customer lifecycle, using insights to drive continuous improvement

  • Identify opportunities to increase conversion rates and optimize monetization strategies through data analysis and experimentation

  • Partner with Marketing, Sales, and Customer Experience to refine our pricing/packaging and develop customer “touchpoint” strategies that blend digital and human assistance

  • Move quickly to drive iterative improvements while maintaining a balance between strategic thinking and execution excellence

  • Build consensus across departments through influence and effective stakeholder management

What You'll Bring to Buildout:
  • 5+ years of product management experience, with at least 3 years focused on data products where access to data is a core part of the value proposition

  • Demonstrated success implementing product-led growth strategies with measurable improvements to key metrics across the customer journey

  • Strong technical background with understanding of data architectures, APIs, and web development concepts

  • Advanced analytical skills with experience using product analytics platforms (e.g. Pendo) to drive data-informed decisions

  • Proven track record of designing features that create recurring value and improve retention for data subscription products

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or business field, or equivalent experience

Nice-to-Have:

  • Background in commercial real estate technology or familiarity with the CRE industry

  • Experience with our tech stack (Ruby on Rails backend, JavaScript/React frontend)

  • Prior success in blending digital self-service with sales-assisted GTM approaches

  • Track record of implementing AI/ML features that enhance data product value

  • Expertise in experiment design and optimization methodologies (A/B testing)

We know there are great candidates who won’t check all of these boxes, and we also know you might bring important skills that we haven’t considered. If that’s you, don’t hesitate to apply and tell us about yourself.

Location: We are HQ’d in Chicago, but operate fully remotely. As such, this is a remote role open across most of the US.

Compensation: The targeted compensation range for this position is $140k - $160k.

Reporting To: Chris Smiles, VP of Product

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
