We’re supercharging the clean economy:

Crux is the capital markets platform changing the way clean energy and manufacturing projects are financed in the U.S. Crux’s platform, market intelligence, and expert team help developers and manufacturers unlock financing through all stages of project development and operation.

Our team of 40+ is composed of experts in energy, tax, finance, government, and technology. We have raised $77 million in capital from some of the best investors, including Andreessen Horowitz, Lowercarbon Capital, New System Ventures, Overture, Ardent Venture Partners, QED, Canapi, and others. These funds are joined by strategic investors including Pattern Energy, Clearway Energy, EDF Renewables, Intersect Power, LS Power, Orsted, Hartree Partners, Liberty Mutual Strategic Ventures, MassMutual Ventures, and OMERS Ventures.

An inflection point in American energy and manufacturing:

Energy demand is growing for the first time in 20 years, driven by surging manufacturing, transportation, electrification, and data centers. Simultaneously, hundreds of billions of dollars are being invested in domestic supply chains for critical minerals and components. Developers and manufacturers will require trillions of dollars in capital to meet growing needs.

Unfortunately, the capital markets supporting this transformation remain opaque, fragmented, and complex. At Crux, we recognized the missing infrastructure: a central capital markets platform designed specifically for the next century of American energy and industry. By connecting counterparties, providing market intelligence, and streamlining transactions, we unlock faster decision making, lower cost of capital, and accelerated investment.

About The Role

We are hiring a Senior Product Manager to own that experience – making the market evermore efficient, intelligent & liquid.

We believe the right hire will help us make this experience software-driven, where the core of the transaction is done on the Crux platform, while our experienced commercial teams can focus their energy on the most complex buyers, sellers & advisors. To get there, we will need to continuously look at the transaction journey, and invent ways to automate a greater and greater percentage of it. Some of that will come through extensions of our existing featureset, while the remainder will require substantial creativity and innovation.

This product manager will work in close collaboration with our experienced engineering, product & customer-facing teams to express the vision & help bring it to life.

Our Values

  • Care for each other: We want to work on a team where people support each other - in their growth, in their work, and towards our shared mission. When we do that, we have fun.

  • Build and improve rapidly: The thing we can best control is our pace of learning and pace of execution. We can’t control the market, regulators, or what competitors do. One of the best ways to move rapidly is to focus, and consistently ask ourselves if we are prioritizing the right things and executing them as best as possible.

  • Focus unremittingly on customers: Developers, manufacturers & their advisors are doing critical work to accelerate renewable energy development. Our obligation is to them first, and we must keep their needs front & center in everything we do.

  • Demonstrate ownership: We are all owners of Crux. This is our team, our company, our product and we show that to each other.

  • Convene a team that reflects the breadth of experiences in the country: We expect everyone to actively help us build a team where people of all backgrounds can thrive. This applies in hiring, people policies, how we interact - and connects closely with caring for each other.

What you’ll do

  • Own the Crux transferable tax credit platform: a suite of tools that allow developers & manufacturers to list their credits, negotiate with buyers, prepare for a transaction, and then execute that transaction

    • Improve that experience to continuously make it more efficient, transparent & liquid

    • Develop and own the vision for that experience over the coming years

    • Work directly with customers & customer-facing teams to identify, test & roll out features

  • Partner with engineering & design to implement & iterate on new features

  • Define & establish metrics to help us understand how & where we can improve

  • Actively participate in company-building: help us improve Crux for our customers & as a team

Who you are

  • Executional Excellence: you are high ownership, and solve problems for customers. You likely have 5-8 years of experience in product management. You may have worked in similar domains: B2B software, complex industries that interact with the built world or operationally-intensive businesses

  • Strategic Rigor: you are thoughtful in your strategic thinking. We find that usually means strengths in modulating communication altitude, understanding & articulating first & second-order effects, identifying novel & elegant solutions to problems and a crisp ability to disentangle problems

  • Startup Minded: you are excited about working at an early-stage startup, which involves wearing multiple different hats, iterating, and owning a significant product surface area

  • Mission Oriented: you want to use your skills to improve sustainable finance, in a collaborative team environment

What we offer

  • Estimated all-in cash compensation of $175-200k

  • Company wide bonus tied to revenue goals

  • Competitive equity package

  • Healthcare benefits, including dependent coverage

  • Remote-first company w/ quarterly onsite meetings.

We encourage you to apply even if your background doesn’t precisely fit the job description - we know that our ability to define the job is limited by our own experiences, and are very open to having those assumptions challenged. Join us.

We provide equal employment opportunities to all applicants without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by law.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
