Contrast Security is the world’s leader in Runtime Application Security, embedding code analysis and attack prevention directly into software. Contrast’s patented security instrumentation disrupts traditional AppSec approaches with integrated and comprehensive security observability that delivers highly accurate assessment and continuous protection of an entire application portfolio. The Contrast Runtime Security Platform enables powerful Application Security Testing and Application Detection and Response, allowing developers, AppSec teams, and SecOps teams to better protect and defend their applications against the ever-evolving threat landscape. Application Security programs need to modernize and Contrast empowers teams to innovate with confidence.

About the Position

Our mission is to revolutionize application security. At Contrast Security, we offer a new approach to code security and application protection, from developers analyzing the first line of code through instrumenting a sophisticated enterprise DevSecOps lifecycle, and deploying apps and monitoring the attack surface at-scale.

The foundation of this is collecting data from applications in production and then providing this information to Security Operations Center (SOC) engineers to enable faster, more accurate detection and response.  As a Product Manager you will drive this area of our technology stack. This is a highly visible and cross-functional role that requires a good understanding of best practices used in modern SOCs across all disciplines including threat detection, threat intelligence, SOC efficiency and automated response.  The successful candidate will have a strong understanding and hands on-experience with most elements of the security stack and the tools in use by cyber defenders including SIEMs, SOAR solutions and TIP systems.  You will work closely with our enterprise customers, field teams, and all other product teams. You will demonstrate a deep understanding of market trends and technologies, and apply this to create a strong roadmap for our innovative ADR solution.

We are looking for a highly technical candidate, a solid mix of business and organizational skills, and the ability to operate in a matrixed cross-functional environment. This is a good opportunity for candidates with a background in security operations, security protection technologies, risk management and cloud/container environments.

What you will do

  • Develop a deep understanding of the application layer and associated risks and threats.
  • Work closely with customers to understand their technical requirements and operating models for deployment and monitoring.
  • Develop a compelling product strategy that leads to compelling features across our platform and delivers value by enabling our customer’s Jobs-To-Be-Done
  • Own the complete product lifecycle, from strategy to initiatives and epics and release.  You will own product requirements, and definition of the product experience for our customers.
  • Establish and track clear metrics and KPIs

Who you are

  • 7+ years of product management/development experience.
  • The ideal candidate will come with a strong background in security operations, XDR or threat protection and prevention solutions
  • Experience with developing and using AI/ML-based approaches to detecting malicious threat actor behavior
  • A practitioner with hands-on experience building a SOC or selecting and prioritizing SOC tools for defenders.
  • Working knowledge and hands on experience with cyber security solutions, services and operations

What you bring

  • Extremely detail oriented and organized. You should be able to work closely with engineering to prioritize, define, and manage delivery on an ongoing basis
  • An ability to use data to derive insights, measure impact and relentlessly prioritize
  • Ability to operate in a highly matrixed environment
  • Executive presence combined with a “roll up your sleeves” attitude
  • Experience with SaaS products ideally in one or more of the following areas: Application & Cloud Infrastructure/Security, XDR, EDR, AV, IDS, WAF, SIEM, SOAR and CI/CD technologies
  • Experience in direct customer engagements
  • Ability to present to both technical and non-technical audiences, and executives
  • Experience with Agile and Lean development practices and rapid prototyping
  • Experience performing competitive and business analysis

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
